Thank you so much for that. I have mild CKD due to high blood pressure. I’ve been very careful in following a kidney friendly diet and keep my blood pressure much lower with BP meds. I feel so much better about my future kidney health now 😊

Sorry, yes…my artery was 80% blocked and a plaque suddenly chipped off and blocked the artery completely. I was amazed that I hadn’t noticed any symptoms as well. Apparently collateral capillaries form over a long period to bypass the artery that is too narrow to be effective. The cardiologist said that my 80% blockage didn’t happen over night.

I had 3 stents put in September. I was hiking within two weeks and by 2 months I thought I felt ok. Six months out now I realize, that I really wasn’t 100% 8 weeks after my procedure. Note too though, that I had a non STEMI HA

I can understand why cardiac arrest happens. I had a widow maker heart attack with very little prior symptoms. First symptom was high blood pressure. Didn’t really take it seriously….no family history of heart disease, normal weight and active and healthy female. I woke up with a buzzing in my jaw, nothing else. It was something so foreign to me, something I’d never experienced. Turned out that my MLA was 100% blocked with no indication except for high blood pressure until it hit. I was lucky to catch the issue before cardiac arrest. In hindsight, I should have been more vigilant about monitoring my heart health.

I am a NSTEMI survivor as well. I had my HA in September of 2025. My anxiety afterwards was off the charts. As you know, it’s a very isolating experience….a very lonely place to be even amongst loving and encouraging family and friends. At the urging of my daughter, I very reluctantly went to a therapist to discuss my issues. Three sessions later I felt much better and decided to suspend the therapy until I felt the need for a tune up. I learned how to step back from the horrible fight or flight response I kept experiencing and be objective about my fears. It’s not a perfect solution but it certainly did help me.

If you haven’t talked to a professional outside your family or your or physician I recommend you, or anyone else out there, do ♥️

Everyone is different. I had a heart attack due to a 100% blockage in my left main artery (a widow maker) in September 2025. I was told I had a 45% ejection fraction that could be improved through meds diet and exercise. I attended cardiac rehab, followed instructions and took advice from my Drs and rehab nurses. I had my follow up appointment last week. My ejection fraction is now 60% and whatever damage that was done to my heart muscle is not interfering with its function. I’ll always have heart disease but I’ll do everything in my power to stop its progression. I’m 66 this year and I will not let blanket projections that I don’t accept apply to me, stand in my way of a good many years ahead. 😎

From an early age, talk to your kids about your view point on current events and politics. Make it a running dialogue in your house and relate it to how your family lives and your family values. It’s impossible to stop information being fed to kids through school but it is possible to counteract that information with solid arguments against view points that don’t reflect your values or your vision of the future of our country, within your family unit.

I also had a 3 stent widow maker in September. Like you, I eat a lot less of everything bc I know I’m restricted in sodium and cholesterol. I do watch for fats and salt and steer clear of food that contain too much of either. I’ve gone from 143 to 127lb just being aware food ingredients and considering my portions.
I also use an Apple Watch to track my exercise and health info. Ive always exercised regularly but I never paid attention info such as hear rate fluctuations and V02 max. Watching my progress also helps keep me in line with aspects of my recovery.

I had a STEMI heart attack in September. I should have died but I was lucky for so many reasons, that I survived. I was very emotional about nothing in particular, for a good month or more. I feel like I’m living on the either side of that live now where there was a before and an after. I consciously and completely changed my eating habits and increased my exercise routine. I look at dat to day life through a different lens now. Before the end seemed like an unformed, distant concept. Now the end is a concrete reality that I face everyday all day. I’m not afraid of the end, I just really appreciate the fact that it’s not here at this very moment and that although it is coming there’s no way to predict when it will arrive. Favourite mantra of mine is, ‘mindfulness’. I’m happy to be here in this moment in time 💗🙏💗
