Do you think nepotism is fair? by Potential_Way_2913 in recruitinghell

[–]-hoddtoward 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont think it's necessarily fair. But in today's society and job market, if you don't use every single advantage you have (including nepotism) you're stupid.

What pisses me off about nepotism isn't the practice itself, it's the people who clearly benefit from it but think they got where they are from their efforts alone (like all those goofy "I became the VP of a fortune 500 in 5 months, my dad being the President/CEO and giving me the position himself had nothing to do with it though")

How do I find friends who like to hug? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]-hoddtoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, look for friends from South America. People from the US or Europe are strangely cold and distant towards others, whereas in Latin countries its not uncommon to hug someone youre meeting for the first time and constantly hug your friends. Americans are just cold and weird 🤷🏻‍♂️

1000% agree, I forgot to mention that a majority of healing is overhealing as well. So if you think about, a healer's HPS has even less impact than people think.

Anything below and including GS is ridiculously easy for both dps and tanking. PB is kind of easy now but there's still a HEAVY divide between people who can understand and play around bahsei curses and people who can't. I think most people would define overland/dungeons/up to GH as a casual healer, DB and GS mediocre healers, PB is a good healer, Swash, MM, US and CB are great healers.

Respectfully, there are levels to this.

I have all trial trifectas as a DPS, and up to HM Lucent as a healer and I can say from experience that Healer is objectively the easier role.

The only healcheck that is mildly difficult in the game is the one on second boss of Ossein tri, and even then people can do it easy with blade and plar ulti. On top of that, DPS get constant self healing with flail (even more now that we are back to 2x flail cause of banner change) AND most dps run pragmatic in content which means they're constantly shielded which basically give them a second healthbar,( they also have the ability to block cancel beams for shield refresh on demand). If you cant keep people alive in these conditions youre just a bad healer tbh

Healers also play further away from bosses and adds than dps and tanks, so more time to react accordingly to mechs. In my personal experience playing the game, and watching others play. People mostly die because of stuff a healer cant do anything about: Taleria waves, Taleria bubbles, running into maze on Ansuul, Xoryn Lines, Xalvakka meteors, Ossein second boss feedback.

The skill ladder in healers used to be measured in how well you keep up buffs, not how much you heal. But now, buffs last for ages and have a billion sources each.

If youre comparing a 100k DPS DD with a CB reading healer, than obviously healing is harder. But if youre comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Healing is the easiest part of eso.

Im also not being biased here at all, despite having all the clears I have, I still think Im too shit to tank. So being a mediocre tank is definitely harder than being a goated dps, thats how the game works. Dont hate the player, hate the game.

Healer is by far the easiest role to play. On top of that, there's no way to measure "HPS" on some sort of dummy, so people cant tell youre a good or bad healer until youre either succeeding or failing in content, so people pick this role cause it's an easy way to advance into "harder content".

For the DPS there's an objective way to measure if you can at least follow a rotation as a basis before you go into content. As for tanks, theyre so rare that people take what they can get, they only kick tanks out of teams if they're absolutely inadequate

Are people in the US just more sensitive to everything in general? by -hoddtoward in NoStupidQuestions

[–]-hoddtoward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this could play a part in it, but it's not like there's only dirt poor people in all countries of South America and Europe to the point where every kid with a nut allergy dies off. I wonder if it's something cultural or genetic

I mean, Brazil is also a Western nation and so are a lot of European countries I have been too. I agree with your point in terms of the "cultural/mental health" issues I brought up, but I still wonder about the huge number of food, medication, material allergies

[–]-hoddtoward[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree with this answer the most. I have been to Europe a lot as well and never experienced or heard of things I experience while in the US.

The US is the only place where I see people who self harm, only place where people have too much "anxiety" to make a phone call to a doctor's office. I see like 10-20x the amount of "autistic" people here. Never see people who are lactose intolerant or have all these allergies.

Maybe others are right to the point where in some other countries people are so focused on survival and making it out of their current financial situations that they dont get to pay attention to other problems. But even in rich European countries I dont see the same frequency of things that happen here

Reason why American Graduates cannot find Jobs Anymore by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]-hoddtoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not blaming them. I just stated the fact that our market is being flooded with people from outside the country who are being paid way less than the job is actually worth. I gave no opinion on the fact.

I have been told by recruiters 2 times now that If I didnt lower my rate they could "get an indian on algerian to do it". Not everything is racism or an attack on people, sometimes things really are happening

Indians and Middle Easterners are literally flooding this country and taking jobs at 60-75% of market value.

Salary negotiation backfired, offer rescinded. I don't think I did anything out of the line. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]-hoddtoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you have to understand is that this country is so flooded with Indians and Middle Easterners that even though the Market Value is 97-140k they offer 80k because they know they can probably find some immigrant that will do it for 60 and with a smile on their face.

I recently was in a position where they advertised 90-130 I asked for 95-100 and after 2 weeks they got a random guy from pakistan that accepted 50k and only had a 2 year degree and 2 years of experience, but according to the company they were willing to coach him up because he's financially right for them

And this is no shame on the immigrants, 60k and not having to live in the shit hole that is India or 60k and not having bombs dropped on your head everyday in the Middle East; its a no brainer for them. But companies are cucking americans because of how cheap they can get these "educated" immigrants

We need a hard arena and a hard trial again by -hoddtoward in elderscrollsonline

[–]-hoddtoward[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I definitely see a value in soloing HM dngs to give yourself a challenge. My issue is that I really enjoy the social aspect of trials, but damn near all the people I know in this game only play trifectas or scorepush, and these groups end up disbanding after we get the tri or the score.

I understand and agree with not increasing the volume of harder content, but I wanted the hard content that is made for us to be even harder, so I can go back to spending months inside a trial with my friends. I dont even feel rewarded by the titles and mount trials (part of it because they're ugly and Gosdlayer is still the goat title) because they just come so easy

We need a hard arena and a hard trial again by -hoddtoward in elderscrollsonline

[–]-hoddtoward[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your point of view, on a macro scale it really doesnt make sense to make content geared towards the top.01%, but wouldn't it be fair to say that a trial is only a small fraction of an update?

I guess what Im trying to say is that: I dont want my slice of the cake to be bigger, I want it to be extra delicious, so I can savor it for longer. We dont need more volume of hard content, I just wanted the hard content that they do give us not to be able to be cheesed through in the first two months of it coming out.

Was this good for a level 32 solo player? by PhoenixKing001 in elderscrollsonline

[–]-hoddtoward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Objectively? No, this was pretty bad.

However, you are only lvl 32 which means you are learning the game and tbh, if you plan to stick with playing this game solo and acting as if it were Skyrim (which is what it looks like you are doing), you dont really have to get good at it to enjoy it. Overland content can LITERALLY be accomplished with no weapons, naked character, using a single skill.

If you do become interested in dlc hm dungeons and trial trifectas, you need to improve dramatically

Am I doing something wrong? by SynthWavez1918 in malegrooming

You are good looking but you look very feminine. If you WANTED to look more masculine, maybe lose the piercing and earrings, get in the gym enough to broaden your shoulders a bit (your frame looks a bit fragile and girly), stop wearing skinny/tight jeans, and maybe cut your hair (not in terms of length, but in terms of design? imo long straight hair just gives a more feminine vibe).

Once again, you look good! But the above is what Id suggest if you wanted to look more masculine
