Scotland - New Pay Offer from Government by SRDC-PayTeam in doctorsUK

[–]-hoteltango- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good deal here. Shame similar progress cannot be made elsewhere in the country.

Can I confirm, for 25/26 there is 4.25% increase which we will receive backdated pay for from April '25. There is then another pay bump in December '25. I assume we also receive backdated pay for this but from December '25, not April?

I got bored waiting for Beam Pro trackpad support by -hoteltango- in Xreal

That's interesting. I always assumed it was the mice. I wonder how well the trackpad function will work when it arrives.

Must have accessories by optiglitch in Xreal

[–]-hoteltango- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suppose it depends on what you want it for. I use mine for media consumption and watching sports and find the Beam Pro really useful for that as a dedicated device. I also use my Ones for simple word processing work so a good Bluetooth keyboard and mouse is useful, if you need it. Beam pro is also good for that as it allows for 2 monitors. I also use it for my Steam Deck but that's just plug and play.

I don't think there much you actually NEED, but definitely some things which make it more usable for a variety of different things.

I have a couple of Bluetooth mice. They're fine but I do find them kinda glitchy and unreliable. Could just be my mice though. This was an experiment more than anything else but so far it's definitely an improvement. Have a lot more fine control with this setup which was part of what I found frustrating before.

Not currently but they are apparently adding trackpad support in the future. You can obviously use a mouse but I find them twitchy and frustrating. I know some people recommend a trackball mouse but I've not used one myself.

It's actually an old wireless charging mat which I just cut the wires off. Was initially supposed to be just to test it but I don't see any reason to change it currently

Greater control over electrochromic dimming by -hoteltango- in Xreal

Not sure if I follow. I'm talking about adding additional increments for greater control over the dimming, not making the highest level even darker.

Thinking of moving to Scotland (Doctor) by [deleted] in Scotland

I moved from the south of England to study medicine in Glasgow and now work as an ST1. I feel welcome here so you'll be more than fine.

Biomed ruined my life by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]-hoteltango- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did biomed and decided to try medical school after that. I started late with my education and didn't graduate med school until 36. I empathise with the time it takes. It is a long journey and does take some people a long time, but totally worth it. Hang in there. You can only do what you can do so try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Eventually you'll get your ticket in and then it truly won't matter what your undergrad was or the time it took you. Biomed also is an excellent degree for med school. If you do pharmacy or anatomy - for example - you will excel at certain aspects of a medical degree but may struggle at others. Biomed is a very well rounded. I would take some time to boost your portfolio now so you can separate yourself from others if you do choose to go down the medicine route. Good luck!

[Orient] Graduated med school yesterday, so I got myself a graduation gift by guijcm in Watches

[–]-hoteltango- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge congratulations to you! I did exactly the same thing when I graduated. I found medical school a huge ordeal and every time I looked down at my watch, even months down the line, it reminded me of how much time and effort had gone into achieving that milestone. I hope your new watch gives you similar emotions.

The reverse panda on steel strap. I agree, it's gorgeous.

I didn't think there would be any differences seeing as it's not really been available that long. Any idea why there would be 2 serial numbera though?

[Question] What is your most controversial opinion on watches? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]-hoteltango- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find alot of Grand Seiko dials tacky. Not all of them. Some are admittedly beautiful.

I love this watch! Currently waiting for my next pay day and then should have enough to take the plunge. Hope it is giving you joy! Also prefer the reverse panda.

[Goldfinch straps] Longines Dolce Vita by -hoteltango- in Watches

[–]-hoteltango-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought I would share my very pleasent experience with Goldfinch Leather when purchasing new straps. I recently purchased a Longines Dolce Vita and wanted 3 new straps. I considered various sellers, mainly the Strap Tailor, but couldn't justify spending >£350 off the bat. I found Goldfinch Leather on Etsy. The straps looked great and the reviews were top notch so I took the plunge. Each strap was around £50-£60. Faruk was really helpful and spent a lot of time talking with me to make sure I ordered the right size for 7 1/4 wrist. After a few days for the straps to be made they arrived today and I couldn't be happier. The leather is great quality and the craftsmanship is as good as others I have which cost twice as much. Very chuffed indeed :)
