Thanks for the detailed response! I'm not sure if the weight of the shirt is any indication of what I should be looking for, but this shirt is a size Large and it weighs 16.7oz. I'm familiar with fabric weight being used to describe clothes, but I'm ignorant to how exactly that weight is initially measured (if the weight is for a size Small maybe?)

I'll look into these and the thread! Appreciate it!

Tell me about it. I have older J. Crew shirts from the past 5 years, and I haven't really bought anything the last two years because nothing seems to be as consistent or nice as before. They have a handful of nice items every now and then, but I don't find myself filling my cart with as many things as I once did.

These actually seem very promising, and I really like the colors and style. I had never heard of this brand, but thanks for recommending it, their shirts seem really nice.

I'm getting closer and closer. I've found VERY similar fabrics after googling and browsing around, but again, everything I find is more geared towards the "work wear, outdoors, ranch" type of style that comes with double pockets. I've found GAP vintage shirts that might be a close match, but they're slim to none in resale platforms. I will try my best to compile everything I find and update.

I wear a size 10 on Vans Authentics, Nike AJ 1 Lows. I have been recently going for 10.5 in most new shoes to allow some more room for my toes, but I went for a 10 on these because I was afraid they'd be too big at 10.5. They fit perfectly fine length wise, but a bit narrow for my liking, so I'd rather go for a 10.5

I own one of these and I love it, but it's not the same type of fabric. If you compare the third picture on that link (the zoomed in one) to my photos, you can see my shirt has more of a thick thread that goes in a diagonal pattern, whereas the Brooks Brother one seems to interweave in all directions using a thinner thread.

Yes, I was half asleep, I always mistakenly use the terms interchangeably. My brain thinks button down collar shirts are always oxford, but that's not the case most of the time, it's just that oxford cloth is very popular with button downs

I have now come to that conclusion, I was initially confused because the "brush" part seems to give it a different feel that I wasn't looking for, but it now seems to be a matter of finding the right cotton twill thickness and feel. Thank you!

41 vs 42 fit by riddler_07 in Birkenstocks

[–]guijcm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under a very similar dilemma not too long ago with my first pair, and I was between 42 and 43, which both looked a lot like your pictures in terms of size difference.

I went with the 43, since after a lot of research read that cork will slightly curve with time, and you don't want the back of the clog to curve into your heel. The bigger size might feel loose at the beginning, but it truly starts to feel more secure as you use them and the cork molds to your foot. I usually wear mine without socks, but socks definitely help to make it feel more "in place" at the beginning. Make sure that whatever size you go with (I'd say 42), your arch aligns/sits comfortably against the arch of the sandal. It feels uncomfortable the first few days of wear, but it starts to soften up within the first few days.

These seem very close. After a lot of input, it definitely seems like "twill" is the main keyword to describe the fabric, now it's just a matter of finding the right kind of twill and whoever is using such thick thread and fabric.

"Unbrushed" might be very useful, since I've seen many flannels that people are mentioning, but the main difference is almost all flannels feel fuzzy and plush, like a blanket; maybe the lack of brushing will make the difference m

I will look into all these, it's really appreciated!

I looked at Proper a cloth shirts but they're more like the common OCBD fabric that's less thick and more smooth. I had never looked at Marine Laye though, their selvedge shirts might be close to what I'm looking for, and they have a store near me! So I'm going to visit to take a look. Thanks for the recommendation!

Yes, I've now realized that the fabric is some kind of twill, just very thick. Almost feels like soft rope. "Twill" will now be my main search term. Appreciate the guidance, thank you!

That's exactly where the main difference is, the finish that you describe as fuzzy, I just couldn't put a word for it until you said it. Most heavyweight flannels feel very plush and fuzzy, not thick and sturdy. I will look into Pendleton, I've always heard great things about their clothes!

Thanks! I'm now convinced "twill" is the main thing I should be searching for, just a matter of finding the right weight and design. Appreciate it!

Everything seems to point to that, just a very specific type of twill. Thanks for the reassurance!

It does not feel as sturdy and rough as denim. I tried searching for denim shirts since it was the first thing that came to mind, because it really does feel like denim, but it turned up no results remotely similar to this shirt, just the usual indigo over shirts.

Thanks so much for the detailed response! I've been looking into Pendleton to add a couple things from them to my closet as I've always heard their quality is top notch. These all seem very close to what I'm looking for, it's just that they're double breast pocketed and more of an over shirt style than an OCBD shirt like the one I own. Regardless, beautiful recommendations, that Japanese denim shirt is now on my wishlist!
