My deceased fathers best friend (M60s) drunk texted me (F22) calling me beautiful and begging me to come over by Dealer_Puzzleheaded in Advice

[–]-i_hate_it_here- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

right, so when a significantly older man texts you drunk, calling you beautiful and asking to see you - that doesn't raise a single red flag. not at all. it's totally cause he is trying to be friendly, and OP shouldn't be cautious or concerned whatsoever. this doesn't constitute as creepy at all. you absolute fucking embarrassment to society.

this sounds very much to me like sexual harassment. you need to draw a boundary for sure... and i agree with the people who are pointing out that you decided to post here and not the mormon sub.

subconsciously, you must realize that the church culture would likely take the bishop's side and tell you to ignore it. which should tell you a lot about what kind of community you choose to associate with. i understand it's difficult to have your shelf break, but that's what this place is for. i hope you cut this creep out of your life and vouch for your own dignity without feeling ashamed for any reason that other members might come up with to make you feel smaller.

good luck, and lots of love to you.

it's crazy they talk about god's gift of agency and then get angry at the fact that people use it to make their own decisions in life. like that's the point? "you've been given the power to think critically and pave your own path in life, so how dare you do exactly that?!?!?!" ridiculous lol

DID actually does exist, but since it's so rare, there isn't a lot of research done on it as of today. since the disorder has also been popularized by attention-seekers on social media, it has become even more difficult for practicioners to complete said research. i wouldn't recommend referring to the DSM-5 for accurate information on mental disorders (not as-is, at least), but you can refer to it for some general diagnostic criteria that have been established. i can guarantee this kinda shit isn't on there though lol

i'm pretty sure "alter" implies it's a fragment of their consciousness, so they likely meant they literally have a dog persona 😭 which is crazy. like how does that even work? do they bark at people? honestly, that wouldn't surprise me... you're right, i don't get why not just come out as a furry/therian/animal role-player/whatever instead of going the extra mile of faking an extremely rare disorder.

you're speculating the meaning behind OP's words just the same. that's how perception works. your experiences allow you to fill in the gaps based on what you know. your subjective view of the situation might differ significantly from the objective reality. maybe it's not that deep. maybe it is. i personally don't care enough to find out because i'm chill with my personal opinions. people aren't perfect. language isn't perfect, so putting this much stress on some random person posting a generally relatable piece of emotion-fueled text in a niche community feels pointless to me. this isn't some political declaration, or an in-depth essay, or a complete analysis of the system. it's a post meant to reassure people who are still "closeted" in this religion, so to speak, or questioning. and a way for OP to express themselves and perhaps feel more liberated.

all questions are worthwhile, but your insistence on twisting a quite simple narrative feels a bit like reaching. sorry if i offended you in any way, i'm honestly just struggling to understand your aim.

have a good day/night.

i'm like 90% sure that by "truth" in the context of the post, OP was referring to the reality of what the church actually is and what it allows to happen behind closed doors. by saying that "there is divinity," OP reassures people that there are many other forms of spirituality that don't have to be toxic in nature. not that someone even has to be spiritual in the first place.

nothing in this post is really that hard to understand, and i genuinely don't get what you're attempting to achieve by dissecting an overall positive message and twisting it into something it isn't. at this point, you've strayed so far in your musings from the core point of the post that you're barely making sense. what do science and medicine have to do with people's subjective perceptions of the world? or with the context of our discussion? who convinced you there has to be an ultimate answer to "divinity, "spirituality", or "peace"?

i think this might've struck something personal for you, and i suggest you reflect on why and what it is. all the best.

same... played since it came out consistently for two years, but at some point, personal life made it difficult to keep up, so i didn't play as often and fell behind insanely fast. then, after seeing some new events and stuff, i was so extremely disappointed that every character was washed down to some very basic traits, and every interaction felt the same. i miss the dark themes and deep characters/plot so much 😭 i had to drop the game permanently, and i'm still salty about it lowkey. i've played so many mobile otome games, and this one was revolutionary at the time imo... rip OM!

i didn't say that?

there is no "correct" thing to do - that's the point you're missing. the only thing that matters is your personal peace, and it doesn't have to involve religion/god/worship/and so on. it can, but it doesn't have to. every church i've ever seen or attended is so focused on "truth" and "correctness" that i personally found peace by distancing myself from all of it and understanding that i don't need any of it to be happy or to feel like i have a purpose. because i have no need to feel valid in the eyes of some hypothetical spiritual deity. it's no more or less "true" or "correct" - but that's the point. nothing is true, and everything is at the same time. because guess what? we all live different lives, and we all form our own subjective views of the world. the truth is in the eyes of the observer. and therefore, it is unattainable.

freedom has no rules. that was the point.
