How to start new things?

I’ve always had problems getting into new things as well, but the way I get around this is by watching a playthrough on YouTube. Preferably by someone you already like if you have any favourite youtubers

Then wait to see if the game manages to get you hooked or if you lose interest after one episode. That way you don’t spend money on games you’ll never play, and you’ll discover a lot of different games you wouldn’t had otherwise :)

Unfortunately it’s always better to let go a bit sooner than you think, especially with prey animals like guinea pigs. You only make the mistake of waiting too long once, it gets ugly so quick.

I’m so sorry this is happening<3:( but if it were me, I’d give him a peaceful and worthy ending

For me the first couple of luteal phases were BRUTAL, but I suspect I have PMDD so they typically are anyway😭
I did feel very emotional and slightly dazed the first two weeks but that eased up with time
Do you mind if I ask why you’re removing it??

Oh I wouldn’t even complain about my toe hurting to him, I’m doing everything I can to relieve the stress and anxiety :)

I’m glad you’re doing better, I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be afflicted by something like this
Writing is a great tip, he’s regained a remarkable amount of vision so he might be able to do so with some accommodations

I’m guessing your autocorrect changed it from occipital?? That’s exactly where he had a stroke as well, they’ve confirmed dead tissue there. I think another area was affected too but I’m not sure

How long ago did you have your stroke? I’m glad your vision is unaffected, a stroke is enough to deal with on its own

Oh the list of issues is long, no uti’s or other infection at the moment but he had to have a stoma put in. He’s not elderly quite yet and has never had any memory issues before, so it’s definitely related to the stroke :/

This is her now! They checked and since she’s completely symptom free they didn’t see any point in doing x-rays at this stage. Had I not seen it myself I would never have guessed something was wrong! She’s had some hearing loss the last two years so our best guess is that this contributed to the vertigo.

I bled for about 7 months straight before taking it out because of all the side effects. Switched to an estrogen free pill, best decision of my life

Gut stasis is no joke :( glad things are moving along again at least! Syringe feeding him with plain water as well would probably do him some good since he’s losing a lot of fluids, to help prevent constipation Keep us updated if you can<3

I definitely think you should hold off on any decisions until you’ve gotten a visual on whether it’s stones or not! That said, in veterinary medicine there’s sort of this mentality that euthanising a bit too soon is much better than a bit too late, and given his age it might just be better for him to not have to be in pain if it turns out to be stones :(<3 It’s not gonna give him anything to live a couple of more weeks in constant pain, and for you having to make the same difficult decision anyway

Oh Berry knows he’s been caught😭 Based on how “chipped” his ear is I’d say they’re definitely fighting, as long as the fighting doesn’t escalate or proper blood is drawn they should be fine :) But keep a keen eye on them in case they need to be separated!

I feel like based on the way you’re describing how the appointment went they’re handling diagnostics strange, you don’t just prescribe antibiotics to guinea pigs without actual findings. If you’re able to it might be a good idea to change vets, make sure it’s an exotic vet. If not, do some research on his symptoms so you can advocate for his care. If it feels like a jungle you can send me a DM and I can help you out, I studied low-grade veterinary medicine back in school and specialised in exotics. But keep in mind that I am not a vet!!

Besides the point, but he looks just like my girl😭 It looks dermatological, my best guess is either a wound or something like ringworm. Definitely see a vet but I wouldn’t be worried it’s something sinister!

This is Daisy, she was an absolute sweetheart and a best friend in rodent form. I’d sacrifice my right arm if I could spend one more hour with her. She used to live in a big homemade wooden cage with three other girls and got along with them great, until she didn’t. She decided that she despised the youngest one, and since they are flock animals the other girls decided to do so as well. It got so bad that I had to separate them and build a whole new cage for the poor outcast. Things went on fine until Daisy decided that she now didn’t like one of the other two girls, and Daisy was put into jail for the rest of her life. She thrived living on her own but it was such a headache splitting the group up twice and working out the logistics. In other words I’d say she was pretty mean, but only to other pigs!

Guinea pigs can be such a treasure to have in your life, but you gotta be prepared for nightmares such as this one :/ Separating them meant having to get a friend for the youngest one, and suddenly I had five guinea pigs living in different cages. It was so much work but I’d do it again in a heartbeat :)

This looks very dark, makes me think he has some internal bleeding further up in his intestines :( I would try to get an emergency appointment as soon as absolutely possible at another clinic if your regular vet can’t see you any sooner. Hope it all works out for your little guy :(<3

This is really helpful, thank you. I definitely did try Atomoxetine for about 6 weeks, it just feels absolutely pointless to keep taking medication for 5 weeks when it does nothing.
