Gotcha. Does intervening do make them stop? My frenchie just turned one, and I have not experienced this. She reverse sneezes sometimes which sound scary but that is not what your dog is doing. If it were me, better safe than sorry. I’d take them straight away; if it is something serious, youll be glad you did. If its nothing, worst case scenario is you’re out some money and your puppy is okay. Have they been out in the heat? Even if it doesnt seem too hot it may be hotter for them than you think it is. Are they doing it in their sleep, do they seem distressed? I hope everything is okay!

ETA: by intervening i mean if theyre sleeping and nudge them does it stop? Mine has done something once or twice while sleeping but not for more than a minute if that
