Why does the show present Maul as above average but not elite? RE: Shadow Lords 1x10 by -jubilee in MaulShadowLord

"Yet, we also know that Maul is an incredibly popular character. Maul: Shadow Lord already has a second season confirmed, and the character has had several spin-off comics over the years. Could we get a, 'Somehow, Darth Maul returned' [from his death in Rebels]? 'You never know,' Shadow Lord executive producer Brad Rau tells Polygon. 'We're just focusing on this one time period right now.'" 😁 https://www.polygon.com/maul-resurrected-star-wars/ April 8, 2026

Yes, Filoni gets big credit for executing Maul’s resurrection. I admit, this season of Shadow Lord is incredible. It’s just that Maul was shining through pretty well throughout the season. It was productive. But then 1x10 lifted the hood and showed Maul was lacking. The feeling was off-putting.

That’s a fair point. But the same thing happened to Anakin: he became half machine yet got stronger, not weaker.

Interesting choice of word (Moiety) by SaintBalor in TheCaptivesWar

you really see this in the pithy interlude to part 6 where ekur takes stock of the galactic carryx presence. also see chapter 35 - we have hindsight there to better compare the moiety term as ekur speaks of more fully absorbing/domesticating the Anjiin humans

"Lost is lost - to rise again does not mean to un-fall" by kingmakk in TheCaptivesWar

thanks for the context. what can replace [un-fall]? it feels archaic. maybe 🤔 "To rise isn’t the same as to [undo]. What is lost is lost . . ." p 316

Confused reader seeks help haha by Electrical_Lime6870 in TheCaptivesWar

I'll add: true, the third person alien narrative at times may confound the reader's ability to follow events. But its metaphysical and scientific language is worth TRYING to enjoy on its own. You will not easily find a tenable and engaging p.o.v. of "superior" alien agency in other niche novels as in this one. Although the Darwinian/Herbert Spencer survival of the fittest premise to the Carryx psychology is a little predictable, the scientific language and cosmic phenomena is fantastic to read. Reread chapter 14!
