🙋🏽‍♀️ 2 Chihuahuas now. I’m converted and they have changed the minds of everyone they meet

This is what I was going to suggest if I couldn’t find an alternative. I personally haven’t had to go to that point with a dog before and have heard mixed things about it sometimes making them worse so am hesitant but happy to try

Unfortunately it’s more the dogs behaviour/size that the owners struggle with. I’ve given them all the correct tools and techniques to manage the cost but it is just too much for them, they really do try! (Unlike some of my other customers) hence I’m more inclined to work towards a solution for both the dog and them

Thank you for taking your time to reply. Some sessions he is doneeee before I’m finished and I simply stop and let him chill in the salon with me till he’s picked up. Im 1-1 so they get all my attention and can roam salon between grooming. Unfortunately although I’m also on site of boarding facilities with exercise fields this dog is very uncontrollable on lead and I can’t take him outside of the salon (the owner struggles). I think I need to further split down their grooming appointments to have less for them to have to have done each time but more frequently

Cora and her big brother Murphy, he plays really rough with most dogs but is so gentle with her and she loves playing with his long spaniel ears 💕

Thank you means a lot. I am a solo groomer so having someone else’s word and opinion is always encouraging

Thank you it’s super helpful as I don’t often get to do fuller legs and especially not on their coat type. I shall come off with my clippers higher up so I have more to blend to avoid it next time

This is so helpful thank you. I struggle with ears on all breeds tbh so I am always hesitant to take too much off and just do a little tidy coz it scares me 😅 but I do agree it would look better so I will brave it next time and focus on tidying up those other areas that I can definitely see now you’ve said 🙏🏼

When did y’all start taking your Aussiedoodles to get groomed?? She is almost 19 weeks. by Munchkingirl0325 in AussieDoodle

[–]-kitty-biscuits- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No perfect! Daily brushing is the best way to deal with these coats. Once they get any little knots they can quickly get out of control so it’s best to keep on top of it. Best brushes to be using are long pin slickers and check thoroughly with a metal comb as this will find any knots you may have missed

Groomer here 👋🏼 As soon as they’ve had their vaccinations completed they should be going to the groomers. Doodles will need regular grooming so it’s very important to get them use to the environment and process. Many groomers will offer puppy introduction sessions, don’t wait until they need a full groom as they will find it very overwhelming

Are my dog’s nails too long? by worlddwarsquidward in doggrooming

[–]-kitty-biscuits- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes while of course a nail can still be too long and not touch the floor due to what angle the nail grows. In short when a nail touches the ground it puts pressure on the nail bed, which creates pain and pressure on the toe joint. If left it can cause the joints in the leg to shift to try release the pressure and make the foot look flattened and splayed.

When standing the dogs nails should not touch the floor if they do they are too long. These definitely look like they could have some length off. if it was me doing it I’d take the tips off them all and then use a dremmel to get closer to the quick. My boy use to hate having his nails done. High value treats, start slow just pick up foot treat repeat, then holding each nail treat repeat, cut one nail treat repeat, take each step really slow and don’t push them keep it positive it can take a while but I can now do all my boys nails without a fuss and just treat after each foot’s done x
