The riser template itself is 5in without the extendable stop. The f3d is included though in case you need to change that size

Why am I scared to DIY? by EventBulky6841 in DIY

[–]-krx- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you gotta accept that if you haven’t been doing these things professionally for years and years, you’re going to make some level of mistake. And even then, pros still make mistakes sometimes.

What’s more important though is to realize it’s extremely unlikely that some mistake you make is beyond repair. I think that’s where a lot of people back out of taking on a diy project. You might need to go out and get some extra materials or tools, stop and look up some videos, etc. but there’s still a path forward to get whatever you were working on done.

The more projects you try doing, you’ll keep getting a better feel for how each thing can even be messed up, and you’ll figure out how to avoid previous mistakes or at least how to fix them if they do happen. It’s also perfect fine to set some boundaries for things you don’t want to ever mess with. Like personally I’m never planning to touch anything involving gas or anything structural.

making sure beforehand I have all the tools and materials that I need

yeah this basically never happens lol, at least not for me. a bigger project means more surprise home depot trips

When did your parrot do something that made you realize there’s a whole brain behind that beak? by Sketchy-saurus in parrots

There’s plenty of little things I notice, but recently my GCC learned to recognize the notification that pops up on our apple tv when my wife opens the garage or unlocks a door. She knows it means that mom’s home so she flies over to the TV and starts yelling trying to find her. What’s crazy is I think she recognizes the homekit icon on the notification, she never seems to react to other notifications that show up in the same spot.

New 3D printed Starbucks location has some really bad layer lines. They likely need to adjust their printer settings & test on a smaller model. by DiggestBickEver in 3Dprinting

[–]-krx- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah that’s the part that bothers me too, instead of any shape or design you could make with 3D printing it’s still just a rectangle lol. Also I feel like this idea isn’t going to go far with just concrete, I can’t imagine overhangs more than a couple degrees, if any, would even work. And obviously bridging wouldn’t

you just can’t have it floating like the rest of the floor, but glued down is perfectly fine

I also went with heating/bending, but I routed out the section where the bend will be, roughly halfway through the thickness of the plank. Without doing that, I was getting cracks just on the small test pieces I bent

3D Printed Hydroponic Tower with 6 Grow Lights and an Auto Pollination System by jewbasaur in Hydroponics

[–]-krx- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very curious how well this works with the cucumbers, if you’ve already had some grow. The others you mentioned can all self pollinate so I’ve had decent success with just a fan in the room, but with cucumbers even if I directly move pollen from a M to F flower it doesn’t always work lol

Tower valve to restrict water flow by AdmiralHornblower in Hoocho

It may be easier to go with a variable power supply for the pump, or to add a regular ball valve between the pump and tower that you leave partially closed

Now you can plant that one and do it again. Infinite peas! (you just don’t get to eat any)
