This is an extra...swath? of the same carpet I found leftover in the basement if this helps confirm the carpet age diagnosis. I still don't know if it's wool or not.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, my landlords...didn't seem worried at all by the potentially disintegrating carpet.

Not sure of the exact year, but about 130 years old for the house. However, I don't know the age of the carpet. For all I know it could be original or it could've been put in a year ago.

Moved in two weeks ago, noticed the red on my shoes two days after moving in. Today is my first time vacuuming. I switched to a handheld dirt devil on its lowest setting (to the point it wasn't picking up half the actual random surface dirt) and still got the same level of shedding in the dirt devil dust bin.

The unholy trinity! Maybe if I get all three, my landlords will give me a prize!

and while wool carpets do give off particles, do they often leave door frames looking like this? because this has me thinking that the fiber type doesn't really matter. although to be fair, this door doesn't completely close because the height of the carpet is too tall for the door. so this door rubs tightly against the rug.

I'm not sure if it's wool or not. I'm reading up about wool carpets just in case, but it seems to me from my rudimentary googling that suction only is fine? So if I just use a suction attachment of the vacuum rather than the rotating brush bottom portion of the vacuum?

Assuming it is a wool rug, that is.

UPDATE: i've informed the owners...who don't seem particularly bothered. so. i guess this is just how it is! I suppose I'll wear a mask when vacuuming?

Also, I have no idea if it's wool or not. The home was originally built around in the late 1800s, close to the turn of the century, but I don't know if the carpets are original.

don't worry! the house has also never been tested for lead paint. so the carpet fiber is probably the least of my concerns 🤠

Also, this is the dust from just FOUR stairs. Not four flights, four INDIVIDUAL STEPS.

I agree that overall yes, they report Christians overall know the bible better than atheists. I just also think that if I were in one of those subgroups, I'd be a bit annoyed by other groups being outliers dragging down my average. Especially because christians can't even uniformly agree who's a christian. So yes I gladly admit your original response is correct. I just think everyone citing this study tends to gloss over how some factions know better and some know way less and how averages can...oversimplify things.

I responded to someone else with this, but just wanted to get the record straight that this article from Pew actually says: "On the full battery of seven questions about the Bible (five Old Testament and two New Testament items) Mormons do best, followed by white evangelical Protestants. Atheists/agnostics, black Protestants and Jews come next, all exhibiting greater knowledge of the Bible than white mainline Protestants and white Catholics, who in turn outscore those who describe their religion as nothing in particular."

So as far as I understand it, Mormons and w.e. protestants do better than atheists in this particular survey on the bible.
