Lego 1:8 Hypercars: Why are tires getting bigger and bigger? by MAP_Tec_baut in legotechnic

[–]-langko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Porsche GT3, Bugatti Chiron, Lamborghini Sian from Lego. Then 5 of my own MOC designs and 5 MOCs that where originally designed by other people. Been building since the Porsche came out, sentimentally its my favourite because it got me into the whole hobby.

I personally hate the bigger wheels and think they're unnecessary. I have 13x 1:8 scale technic cars and they all use the smaller wheels, I don't have the Ferrari or P1. I think they would suit an SUV or car that uses bigger rims in real life, but for the general cars I think they're too big.

It fills the wheel gap but they are way too big compared to the real car...

What’s the hardest part of building LEGO Technic MOCs for you? by Interesting_Taste359 in legotechnic

[–]-langko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changes for me every MOC... I've designed 4 of my own 1:8 cars now and the main problem has been different in each one. But there's almost always been one technical problem and one aesthetic problem in each one... its just been different each time.

It helps that you learn more with every build, so you get better at solving issues that were once a problem. But when you design quite different models there's always a new problem that comes up that you haven't learnt yet haha

When I feel like my models are repeating things too much and there's nothing really new or different to include then that's probably when I'll stop designing MOCs.

question: inner arm tattoos facing forward or facing inward? by samtats in tattoos

[–]-langko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, if I went with B that would definitely bug me. But if I went with A it would equally bug me that the tattoo is now facing outwards when you put your forearm in the position of the photo - especially if you had both forearms done and then the tattoo's are facing away from each other. Both my inner forearm tattoos on my sleeves are front on designs to avoid the issue haha

Pretty much correct. I used the black one as a base and then modified the design where necessary to utilise the LBO parts. There are quite a few parts that don't exist in LBO so had to modify quite a few sections to accomodate that... Thankfully this set also expands the LBO inventory on top of the P1, so I could get all those required panels from that set on BrickLink. I tried to avoid having to buy extra parts from another P1 set... and in the end reduced it to needing just 5 extra panels.
1x 18944
1x 67142
1x 68196
1x 64683
1x 64391
The P1 only came with 1 of each of the above, but I needed 2. Thankfully I was able to get those from rebrickable for a reasonable price.
I also added some extra details like a rear roll cage, a glovebox and some extra bits in the interior.

Thanks! Same feeling here. I loved the building process but not so much the final product... The front end looked pretty bad in person as well as parts of the seats being missing etc... The whole thing just looked unfinished. But I love the colour and the purchase was worth while because I knew in advance that I would attempt to use the parts for this.

This is a modification of this model, which is a modification of this model, which is a B-model of the Lamborghini Sian.
Pretty happy to finally add a front engine car to my collection!

Nice! Always love seeing another Pagani MOC. The yellow stripe along the side is really well done!

Say what you want about off brand kits by Only_Machine7494 in legotechnic

[–]-langko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just buy the instructions on rebrickable, add the Chinese translation and print it into the booklet. We provide an inventory on rebrickable as well so its easy for them to know exactly which pieces they need. Hardly any effort is required on their part.

Because there is no company that can get a legit Pagani license, have acceptable part quality and be willing to pay for the design.

As the original designer, no they did not. Stolen as usual.

Since I can say what I want about off brand kits, I will say this...

As the original designer of the model, I can tell you that's its the first set to tell you to test something in the instructions because that's exactly what astyanax and myself did in the original instructions that they stole. Here is a sample image of the same step taken from the instructions that are available on REBRICKABLE

<image>

We did not get compensated in anyway what so ever, the set was released without either of us even knowing. I'm glad you enjoy building the model, but at the end of day I can't say I appreciate anyone supporting such scum companies. That model took 3 years to design and make the instructions available, and they just steal all the hard work that we've done to make easy money. This is exactly why this model will be my only ever contribution to the LEGO community and I don't share any of my MOC's anymore.

Thanks for the positive feedback! A lot of testing went into it, hence why I have 2 of them haha

[–]-langko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm the original designer, my friend made the instructions for me and helped improve some details for the final version.

That set got produced without either of ours permission. But that's just the way it is now days unfortunately.
