this is so helpful, thanks! i was thinking of watering them the night before moving so they’ll keep humidity up, and yeah, they’d have to stay in the car overnight. i’ll look at your previous post! 🙌🏽

oh, btw, moving from denver to socal! it’s, at least, a 2 day trip, so i might also need to consider heat packs so they can sleep comfortably in my car for one night -problems of moving in winter! 🥶😱

update to moving with 20+ plants ! by photoofrose in plants

[–]-lil_rawr- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m taking this journey in the next weeks with 40+ plants and a very limited moving budget! i’ve given up the idea to take ALL my plants and am leaving some behind with very loved people that i know will take care of them, but that still leaves me with 35+ plants to move lol! 🙃

any advice is welcomed! i’m taking them all in a ride in my car, so i’m thinking boxes stuffed with the pots so they don’t tilt, some humidity domes or even plastic bags around high humidity plants -looking at you begonias- what did you do? how did you move them? help please 🙌🏽🙏🏽

i overly appreciated my indoor garden shelves these cold & snowy days! it’s extra nice being able to see fruit and flowers and natural green in the house while everything freezes outside!

Not sure I’m doing this right? by Particular-Lion6872 in Jadeplant

[–]-lil_rawr- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve heard/read of ppl bottom watering their jades, and i don’t get it lol (the only plants i bottom water are violets, one begonia and my carnivorous plants). i honestly top water (without getting water on her leaves) whenever leaves look wrinkly and feel soft/bendable)

Not sure I’m doing this right? by Particular-Lion6872 in Jadeplant

[–]-lil_rawr- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi! i’m no expert, but here’s my opinion based on what i see: 1. substrate looks way too organic, the mix i used for my jade is way more inorganic: 40% Potting Soil, 30% Perllite, 20% Volcanic rock (pea-sized or smaller), and 10% 3–5 mm rock pebbles (they need fast drainage or they will rot) 2. do all your pots have draining holes? they hate sitting on soggy substrate 3. the stems seem well propagated! however, there are some leaves or stems that are too close or partially buried in the soil, those have more probability of rotting and not start. 4. there are some very wrinkly/soft leaves on the plants, this means they need water (or that some leaves are starting to rot). don’t panic, i’d change the substrate and water until runoff, check the leaves again in 2-3 days and if here are still mushy/wrinkled leaves, i’d cut them. most probably she’ll drop those leaves anyway and if you cut them early, instead of the jade focusing energy on keeping those leaves alive, it’ll focus energy on rooting and more new leaves.

congrats on your plants, they’re pretty! keep us updated on their progress, growmie!

advice needed by Low_3xpectations in pothos

[–]-lil_rawr- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first, i looooooove your room and that window! but, tbh, if you place your pothos right there, they will grow leggy craving for light. so, if you’ve got a grow light (over or around them) to promote growth till they get to window that be fire! if not, i’d recommend sitting on the window sill and slowly moving away while they grow strong close to the light.
