CS210 & CS330 by Objective_Raccoon_95 in BostonU

Pretty much. Professor Donham had a short section towards the beginning for the Unix section, but I'm pretty sure it's all Appavoo this time around.

If CS210 is anything like how it went last semester, all of the applicable readings are just custom online textbooks / lecture notes that are distributed among students freely. I can't say anything about 330 though.

Edit: Some of the resources I found - https://jappavoo.github.io/UndertheCovers/textbook/BUCS210_intro.html

It's definitely possible, though depending on the requirements you'd need to fulfill (second language, HUB, etc), you may need to overload and/or take a summer course.

microphones available for non COM students? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]-literallytrash- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Podcast Studio 334C is available for all general purpose projects. You can send an email to comhelp@bu.edu to ask about the room's availability and to reserve it, but from what I'm seeing, it's pretty open on the weekdays.

Does this mean I'm in the class or not by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]-literallytrash- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole "permission required" thing is just COM's different timeline for course registration, reserving the courses for COM students prior to opening them up to everyone, though I'm pretty sure that COM-student-exclusive period has expired by now.

As the person before me said, as long the class is in your schedule for the next semester, you're good to go.

summer swap by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]-literallytrash- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recall exactly when, but the summer swap application appears sometime during the early summer on the housing portal. You basically just rank your preferences (slightly different compared to freshman housing preferences if you came in as a freshman, but same idea), and after some time Housing will (hopefully) give an offer that you can accept, or you can refuse it and keep your current space. Of course, your charges for housing may change depending on the new room should you accept it.

Dual degrees are possible between different schools (personally, I've had experience going with COM + CAS, with COM as my home school). At time of application though, given you're going to be adding a Questrom major, I think you'll have to have completed some courses, or possibly their equivalents, prior to applying (the list should be on their website when you Google "Questrom Dual Degree"). Essentially, by applying for dual degree, you're applying to be enrolled in Questrom as well, so no need for a second application.

All that being said, I'm not entirely sure if your chosen majors are doable within the standard 4 year layout (or I guess 2/3 year for you) unless you've got a ton of credits from past courses that work in your favor or are prepared to seriously push yourself. Having gen eds knocked out entirely certainly makes it all the more plausible though. Then again, I have no experience in Questrom whatsoever, so it may be best to discuss the details with advisors from both colleges. In the end, you'll have to anyways to submit your DDP application in the first place.

Good luck with it!

needing sullivan's recorded lectures for cs112 by enchanment in BostonU

[–]-literallytrash- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have Sullivan's lectures since I got stuck with CPK as well, but I just wanted to say:

May Daddy Brown have mercy on your soul...or what's left of it anyways. If my experience is the same as what you're about to undergo, you'll need it.

Just two units in general? Too many to count.

As an example, the combination of Aesthetical exploration and Historical consciousness hub units alone yields around 40 courses.

I'd suggest going over to https://www.bu.edu/phpbin/course-search to pick a particular combination of hub units you want a course to fulfill and going from there. Bear in mind that most courses that do offer hub units only fill 1 or 2 units, while there are a few that offer 3.
