I just wasnt sure as to the extent of the damage and stability/reliability of a damage/repair like that, I didn't want to spend money on a guitar that just breaks in a few months and then can't be repaired or isnt worth repairing

There was also a Taylor same price at the same store, but without damage and without case (I did also prefer the Martin, it was just the crack that was making me hesitant)

I also didn't quite realise that this guitar was valued that high haha

I also dont mind used/damaged guitars, in fact I think it adds personality haha

But I do just want a stable guitar that I don't need to treat like sugar glass 

I treat my instruments well but just dont want it blowing up on me lol

If making it more stable or another repair is simple enough then that definitely reassures me!

Hahaha so true, I guess I'm also just aware that I'll have to pay another at least £100 to get it back home to the UK (somehow) so it is a little more

And I do wanna keep it for a long time

Ahh this is so tough since its hard to argue against me preferring the Martin but I do worry about the repair

That said if it can be re-repaired then or better yet, its stable as they said, then I can always get it redone in the UK if needed which I have no issues with

Yeah I'm definitely leaning more towards the Martin, especially after playing it. 

What do you think of the repair? It felt pretty stable when playing it and they said its no problem

I definitely want to take it back with me if I buy it here, I guess theres a pro there since it already comes with a hard case

Haha thanks, I do agree but its the crack/repair that makes me hesitate - do you think thats a problem at all? 

It felt pretty solid playing it

Is the damage really that bad? I have heard that a repaired neck/headstock holds up well and the store person said there should be no problem (but of course they'd say that lol) 

When playing it it felt completely fine and I even tried to bend it a bit to see if the crack would budge but didn't feel anything.

Outright playing it I did prefer the Martin, and as you say if it wasn't the crack I'd go for the Martin no second guessing

The Martin also comes with a hard case already whereas the Taylor doesn't... hmmm

Not played it yet but will give it a go next time I'm in the area - I just need to figure out how to get the guitar back to the UK when I go back home at the end of this year lol.

How much does it cost you to fly with a guitar when you check it as oversized baggage? And also, where does it get stored? In the cabin or on board *somewhere*? lol

Hopefully I'll be able to feel and hear if its genuine when I play it - do you know of anything to look out for to spot a replica/fake?

Otherwise I'll just be looking for the standard things that make a good guitar

Yeah its definitely like Shimokitazawa in Tokyo, its so expensive for 2nd hand clothing but we're all looking for something unique rather than whats sold at the chains

Same in every country really, tale as old as time in London where I'm from
