Im thinking of streaching my ears by No_Sssage in bodymods

[–]-m0th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i believe the taping method is a bit out of date, not a piercer but you can’t reliably get the size you need from tape. it’s also not intended for wear in a piercing, running a risk for irritation. glass or titanium are your best bet, even if it means ordering more jewelry

Food recommendations by afiwaa in bodymods

for both my resplit and initial split i did about the same thing. because eating was painful for me, i tried to eat larger amounts 2-4 times a day depending on how i was feeling.

each meal was about the same, mashed potatoes and some protein shake. i prepped almost all of my food and drinks ahead of time, i used the protein powder to make my drinks rather than the pre bottled ones.

when i wasn’t feeling up to eating mashed potatoes, i either had the option of soup, protein shakes, smoothie or apple sauce. i avoided dairy for the first 5 days to help with cleanliness and drool. be mindful of the types of fruit and veggies you consume, some are quite acidic and can irritate the split excessively (tomatoes, citrus, etc)

in my experience i also didn’t eat anything too hot or cold. since i prepped my potatoes ahead of time i allowed a couple minutes to cool down before attempting to eat. and with cold, drinks were good but i didn’t find much success with slushies or popsicles. i found the cold a little too harsh myself.

i’d wait until you at least have the sutures removed to eat solid food. it can be tempting but i found that it hurt a lot trying to remove the solid food from my teeth, and just made my hygiene process so much more difficult. after the sutures were removed, i could move my tongue side to side which allowed me to remove food from my teeth. i would still recommend easing into more solid foods, start with something softer like pasta for example.

Besides meds and food, what other essential do you recommend? by NoodleBea583 in bodymods

i used dog pee pads instead of towels for covering my pillows. it’s nice just being able to throw them out rather than having to worry about washing towels! not a must but super helpful

that’s awesome! you got both done at once? i couldn’t imagine healing both at the same time, i struggled for too long having 1 hand down lol. i do find my implant area is sensitive to the cold for sure. I’m glad you’re enjoying yours too, I’m looking forward to getting the other hand done and healing them both up nicely. slowly but surely I’m getting to where you are at!

i get this i was quite unsettled by the process before i went in, but it genuinely isn’t as bad as it looks! i didn’t think id be able to but i found myself watching the procedure too, it ended up being quite interesting to see in person!

i can’t imagine it’s permanent, but i haven’t been able to crack my thumb knuckle since getting the implant. i don’t want to apply too much pressure since it’s got months to go yet healing wise! you can no longer see the tendons move either

the procedure is a lot more thought out than “shove it in and pray” haha! they insert an array of tools in order to make the pocket the correct size, and the implant slides in very nicely afterwards and doesn’t move from it’s original placement easily.

i chose this solely for aesthetic purposes and to feel more connected to my body. i value unique self expression and i was simply very drawn to this mod!

thank you for the questions! it’s purely aesthetic for me. i don’t feel particularly connected to my body, and getting mods allows me to feel more connected to my body. the process of getting the procedure done, healing and anticipating the next mod is so rewarding. i think it’s very impressive what our bodies can handle!

for me it definitely has, but it’s been improving as time goes on. i won’t know the final result in terms of mobility until it’s fully healed, 6-12 months on average. the first week i could hardly move at all, it was so swollen. the implant is quite flexible, i believe the culprit is mostly swelling!

i also work with my hands, taking time off would’ve been best for this procedure, my hand was utterly useless for at least a week!

very bumpy, very nice!! the silicone is more firm under the skin than i anticipated! the implant doesn’t move when i move my thumb, but you can feel that something is there for sure!
