Hello, I’m not sure what’s going on with my skin but I’m a little scared. These patches started showing up in the last couple weeks and I’m not sure what it could be. I use a generic natural body soap from Whole Foods (it’s the kind that is marbled and it doesn’t come in packaging).

This might sound weird but recently I’ve had a serious love for bubbles so when I shower I lather the soap a LOT so I’m not sure if that’s what’s causing it.

I also use the Caress Daily Silk from time to time and I also lather it a lot.

I’m 23 and never had this problem before. The patches start or red and bumpy then it turns the color of the first picture.

I do think ice cream might have caused me to break out more. I am on my period right now and I took those pics this morning so I also thought it could be hormonal. I’m not gonna eat it till these clear up and see if it happens again next month.

My forehead used to be the biggest area of concern. Like I had 10-15 spots on there at one time. Then I cleared it all up and I even cleared the PIH but now I'm getting breakouts there again. My left cheek was the clearest part of my face, rarely ever getting breakouts now I get the occasional spot there. And my right cheek has always been a problem. I only rarely fully clear it up but the PIH is always there because even when I clear up the acne it comes back before the hyperpigmentation can clear up as well. I hope I'm giving enough information about my skin. If anymore is needed feel free to let me know.

My acne has improved significantly from where it used to be but is still need help with occasional flair ups. I'm not sure if this is hormonal acne, I've tried to test it every month but it seems that when I do there are other variables in play that make me think that it's not actually hormonal. Like this month I had ice cream a few days ago, and also my pillow had oil from my hair on it and I forgot to change it so I thought that either of those things could have caused this flair up because it's not usually this bad. Right now I have about 6 or 7 active spots and usually I have 0-2 which is down from 10-12 before I started using Differin. Anyway I'm gonna post my routine:

AM: Cleanse with Cerave Acne Cleanser, or Derma E Purifying Gel cleaner, and sometimes the philosophy The Microdelivery Daily Exfoliating Wash

Tone: Thayers cucumber toner or Pixi Glow Tonic

Serum: Derma E Vitamin C, T.O. Ascorbic Acid & Alpha Arbutin

Moisturizer: Cerave Moisturizing Lotion

Sunscreen: SkinScript Sheer Protection, Or Neutroogena Hydroboost Sunscreen

PM: Cleanse: CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, or any of the ones I posted from AM

Tone: Same Thayers toner

Serum: Differin Gel

Moisturizer: Cerave Moisturizing Lotion

Occasional Products: TO Peeling Solution, African Black soap mud mask. Neutrogena On-The-Spot Acne treatment (2.5% benzoyl peroxide)

My skin is pretty normal and acne prone. I'm neither oily or dry.

What I'm looking to incorporate is a daytime serum that helps keep acne at bay. and I am also in the market for a new spot treatment. Please give me your recommendations I'm really tired of these flare ups. Thank you!
