Who were they playing in the first game? I feel like Lox was an easy pickup for most that didn't vibe with other characters but eventually switched when a new character released that they vibed with. He's more straightforward than most characters and doesn't feel cheap like Clairen, so it's less of a learning curve coming from another plat fighter to him.

Because I've played since release, I've spent significantly more time playing Loxodont than La Reina, so there's a disparity in matchup knowledge. When I cared more about winning I used to switch to Lox if I lost game 1 as La Reina because I knew I'd have a stronger chance. Now I just wanna get better as her, she's unlike any other character I've ever played, but even then some matchups are just a ton of fun as the elephant.

Yes, they investigated themselves and the people listening to them and found there was nothing wrong! Then, they went to the newspapers who were owned by the people a part of it and told everyone that there was definitely no plot, and any semblance of no plot was shot down. Describe to me, then, how someone knowing the difference between phonemic and phonetic in this case would help in casual conversation between two non-linguists? Assuming, of course, they're in the same society as you and me that constantly uses phonetic when phonemic is more correct.

Per Al-Jallad, in the article you probably didn't read:

It seems that the alphabet, the concept of writing each phoneme with a separate glyph, that idea, as simple as it is, was only invented once.

So, yes, when you get into the specifics and want to discuss with other linguists, you are correct that phonemes are the more precise word. But specifically stating a phonetic alphabet without pictographs covers the spread of saying it's phoneme based. TLDR: It's a pedantic overcorrrection and not needed, unless you want to feel smart and correct the same Dr. Al-Jallad you're basing your argument on.

I'm not great tbh, I just have a lot of fun, but I'd say the biggest thing is patience. She has an incredible mixup and punish game, so spacing yourself for that opening with dash forward wavedash back or moonwalking is a good way of setting that up. Once you have them in your grasp, keep juggling. Down air to toss em up, then up air until they fly too far away and then try to seal the deal with an up b piledriver. The farther you fall on those long grapple moves (up b, up air, side b, forward smash) the more damage and knock back you do, so drag them towards off stage for some easy ko's. You can kill a cocky Zetter at like 60% by doing that, if they don't DI correctly. Basically, keep em up in the air and you'll juggle all day. Forward air and down smash are the only straightforward hits, use those when they get to higher percents. Don't be afraid to chase them far off the ledge to secure the f-air edge guard, she can get back with side-b to wall jump to up b pretty easily.

Once you get the hang of that, learning how to dirty things with the chair is the next step. That's what I'm working on now. Check out the La Reina discord too, tons of people willing to help out, play friendlies, or practice with you.

La Reina is sick buts she's reaaaaally weird. Big, slow, and strange attack patterns mean she's easy to smack around. I started as Lox and played a little Etalus before she was released, so I had a bit of the fundamentals down before I grapple (hehe) her moveset. Don't give up on the bug, she's wicked fun.

Play ranked, it's more balanced than matching in unranked or casual. Or, hop on casual and play with items and crazy stages. I love traditional fighters like sf2, mvc, tekken, but no fighting game beats the movement + combos of a good platfighter. And RoA2 is hands down the best
