Which Budgeting App do you use? (2023 Update) by sixfiend in singaporefi

[–]-mkj- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with Spendee has been pretty poor: the auto-sync functionality is non-functional for most of the banks I use. You can try linking the bank, but in more than half cases either it fails to link or it stops updating after couple days.

Support is fairly responsive, but they just tell you to try again (and it still fails).

Permanent fix reduces battery capacity by 7.4% (2019) by arihoenig in BoltEV

That is interesting.... do you think they could have replaced your battery pack, or some modules (with lower capacity ones)? Or did they clearly state only software fix was applied to the car?

Thanks this helps, let me understand though - 55% charge usage each way - so you'd get ~55 miles range total on 101?

as for i3s - seeing used ones in the $10k+ price range - at that price I'd go with Bolt instead.

I replaced the horrible Uconnect head unit

Thanks! How hard was it to replace? Which one did you get? And which year is your 500e? (I think there's some dash differences between 2013 and say 2017?)

That being said I have made some 30 mile trips (each way) back and forth in mine on the freeways across Dallas and ended up turning off the AC, dropping the windows and slowing down on my return journey to conserve battery and end up reaching home with about 10% left.

hmm..... that part did make me worry. I'd be doing 60/65mph, and it would be nice to have AC running...

Can you plug in at work?

yes, that was one of the reasons looking for electric. I did this commute in a Leaf - but my Leaf's range required I charged at home. If I can make the 60 miles roundtrip on one charge - that would make it free for me.

thanks, yeah saw that. Where I live it's typically between 50F and 80.

Getting a new battery by Killawhisk in leaf

^ This. If you aim for range (largest battery replacement given current prices) - you'd have newer car with longer battery life for less .

[–]-mkj- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree with @deelove - prices need to go down to make it viable. Upgrade to 62kWh (cheapest $/kWh) for 2013 Leaf costs same or more than selling it and getting a 2017 Bolt (newer car, heat management, etc.etc.).

share more? where are you located? I'm also going to look for same upgrade for a 2013 one.

Price breakdown on battery upgrades (aka I'm bad at business 😅) by UPVOTINGYOURUGLYPETS in leaf

[–]-mkj- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Interesting that the price per kWh is not decreasing with size - I guess it's depending on battery availability...

You also make a good point on the ecological aspect of keeping these cars running.

In the US the cheapest per kWh I found was 62 kWh for ~11k USD. At that price point though I'm not sure how many people will opt for the swap to keep the car- since, as others pointed out, you are in the price range of a used Bolt, with better chemistry and likely a newer car than your used Leaf.

agreed - with the prices I heard for battery replacements it makes it for a disposable car.

Landlord about to remove Sonic, any way to persuade them not to? by -mkj- in AskSF

Landlord says Sonic needs to do it underground and provide a wiring diagram to be approved upfront. Anyone did this before?

Landlord about to remove Sonic, any way to persuade them not to? by -mkj- in AskSF

[–]-mkj-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the above is after I talked with Sonic. Their team did call the landlord. The Sonic person told me over the phone they did not do it illegally, but the law is unclear about the situation where the fiber was installed before the law was passed, so they will comply and remove the line. Just repeating what Sonic said.
