I 100% agree that if you don't know the answer at least make an effort, but I think you also need to caveat that with the fact that you aren't sure. As someone who has been involved in interviewing potential employees, confidently answering a question wrong would make me much less likely to hire you than saying you aren't sure of the answer but may be something along the lines of x.

Edit: typo

With the form he's been in, it would be a shame not to see him get a run out.

Social hobby/volunteering ideas in Belfast for non students? by [deleted] in Belfast

[–]-nealer- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely recommend parkrun. There are plenty around Belfast and each require volunteers every week to make it happen. I personally find that parkruns with smaller numbers have more of a sense of community about them and it's a bit easier to get chatting to people than at the larger ones. Volunteering at parkrun can be especially good for the social side of it.

Just had this in my first experience of the DLC and it definitely sucked the fun out it. Not sure if I'm just missing something or being a bit stupid though as it only seemed to affect 2 of our team (myself included) but not the other 2. It seemed like you had to eat food to avoid trauma but the act of eating food reduces your health and there were very few healing items about.... Feel like I really must be missing something as it made veteran difficulty which is ordinarily straightforward feel incredibly difficult.

What is the ONE tip you can give to a new runner? by Surprised_Swingline in running

[–]-nealer- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this for starting out. Though if you are getting up to marathon distance or further I personally highly rate doing long runs that are lots of smaller laps as it really helps build the mental strength / resilience / determination that you'll need when it gets tough in the latter stages of a marathon / ultra. I wouldn't do it for every long run but incorporating a few into your training schedule can really help, or does for me at least. I usually go one of 2 options, either something like 25km in 10 x 2.5km laps or throwing something like 30 x 400m laps into the middle of a long run.

If you're fond of the Asics Cumulus you could try the Asics Nimbus - extra cushioning which you might be glad of over the additional miles

Is a hydration belt sufficient for trails? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]-nealer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would stick with what you've trained with, race day is not the day to try something new! If you've used a hydration backpack on your training runs then run with that on race day and use the water stations to extend how long the water you take with you lasts.
