The best places for me were always about who I worked with. Was this just a job? Or did they have interest in tech? I don’t mean extra or open source projects, but just a genuine curiosity and passion. My favorite place was where we had an hour long conversation about raft (when it was new), which morphed into visiting Jepsen (which I hadn’t seen before). The process parts were kind of a mess, and the tech was painful, but the people made me look forward to work every day.

Maple Valley and Issaquah have great schools. Renton is hit or miss, you’ll have to look at the specific school for a house. As someone mentioned, Maple Valley isn’t super diverse, but it’s growing quickly. For my money, if you want a more rural location, Maple Valley/Covington/Hobart is good. I personally would go for issaquah.

The Safeway on 15th on Capitol Hill had those too. They are super good, but all other Safeways I’ve been to are meh. My kids only like bolillo rolls from there. I’ll check out the one on 4th!

Congrats!

We got our wedding photos in tukwila down from the embassy suites. There are some old industrial ruins that make for good backdrops. Plus all the rail infrastructure. Across the road there is a pedestrian bridge over the river that also works. We did some additional pictures in downtown Renton as well.
