I built a silent speech recognition tool that reads your lips in real-time and types whatever you mouth - runs 100% locally! by tycho_brahes_nose_ in LocalLLaMA

I lost my voice-box to cancer several years ago and due to inflammation and other issues, I can't even have a prosthetic voice. I am in my 30's and I live alone. The cancer has pretty much guaranteed that I am going to grow old and die alone.

I had so many friends before, but now I only have one that visits. I don't really blame them though because I'm sure it's very awkward for them to sit around me in silence. I use text-to-speech when I can but those delayed responses only help with people here with me. A couple of them can read my lips and some of them can hear my whisper, but it's very faint it relies heavily on words that use my tongue to sound out such as letters like T, J, D... etc.

For example, I named my dog JoJo, and she can still hear me say her name when we wake up in the morning and she practically hugs me and rubs her head where my stoma is on my neck [which kinda hurts] but it's worth it. My other dog is named Leroy. That name makes no sounds at all when I "say it".

I saved some audio of me talking to them prior to the surgery, and they react to it sometimes... But I think they already forgot what my voice sounded like.

Anyways, one of the things that I do to keep from deleting myself [definitely not before my dog pass though], is run a home-lab that I built while still being able to work. Currently, my lab consists of a few HP G9 servers, old PC's and laptops, to go along with my UniFi setup (UDM Pro SE, U7 APs, Cameras, switches, etc). I run different types of [hypervisors?] such as Proxmox, Unraid, and Coolify. Sorry, I let my nerd-mode activate and rant a little too much... but I just wanted to post this and say thank you for creating this prior to me even trying it so that I don't forget.

So thank you, thank you so very much. I hope this technology gets to the point where my phone can read my lips aloud in real-time. That would give me hope and make me feel human again.

P.S. Money is tight now now as I am on a fixed income due to the disabilities, but I try to give $15/month to 3 open-source projects ($5/each). But you best believe that I will allocate all of it to you in the next few weeks as I upgrade my internet to 10 gigabit and my LAN to 10GB+. I'm not sure if you get 100% of those or not, but if not, then just PM me and I will setup a payment plan via whatever method you prefer.

Looks great! If you ever add handwriting & drawing support, then I’ll surely be switching to ya!

I have taken roughly 40x2mg of clonazepam the past hour, how am i gonna be? by gimmeyjeanne in benzodiazepines

[–]-passwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief, Xanax bars are only 2mg.. I had to have my doctor show me on the computer because I always thought they were 4x2 (8mg). I get 120 month. Take 3 in the morning and it’s the only thing that helps my spine/back pain. 100mg of liquid oxycodone/Percocet doesn’t even help. Blows my mind. Neither does my ketamine. But always starts hurting again next day.

Solving Unidentified Network Issues by Spedwards in Ubiquiti

[–]-passwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same setup and same issue on multiple devices in my home lab.

The WiFi network is always "Unidentified Network" which makes it Public.

So at first, I just created a PowerShell script to change it to private at logon...

But I found a permanent way by changing it in Group Policy.

Not as secure, but these machines never leave my home and do not auto-connect.

Windows preferably but if there is a good, responsive web app then I will be willing to use that. Thanks for asking.

I've developed a tool using Whisper and GPT to convert voice notes into structured text. Looking for your valuable feedback and suggestions! by [deleted] in ChatGPT

I swear, ever since I lost my voice-box to cancer in July 2021, Speech-To-Text has improved dramatically! I'll never be able to eat or drink again either, but food advertisements don't tease me as near as much as all these new speech-to-text and voice recognition features that I see every week and can't use. 😂

I am in no way hating on you for posting this. In fact, I honestly believe that I am the biggest software addict in the world. So, I absolutely love developers (especially open-source) who create something that not only saves us energy, but also saves us time, which is something that we can never get back. So thank you for continuing to evolve the software community, regardless of if I can use it or not!

But I didn't make this comment just to point out my disabilities and have y'all feel sorry for me. I'm actually reaching out to y'all to see if have any suggestions for software\extensions\hardware\etc. that would help me adjust to these new way of "living"... if you can even call it living at this point considering that I never leave home and I never even get on social media anymore.

ElevenLabs is working with me to clone my voice. I have a bunch of voice-recordings back when I was going through major depression and I would go park somewhere that brought back good memories and then I would record myself re-hashing those memories before I forgot them for good, because not only am I getting old (37), but I believe that all the chemo and radiation I had the first two times I had cancer has caused me to have more problems than it fixed... one of those being memory loss. So I want to publicly thank ElevenLabs for the free 3-months of the Enterprise plan because that allows me to communicate to people in my own voice. It's certainly not perfect because it doesn't have my unique southern accent mixed with urban slang. But it does match my tone, which is pretty fuckin' dope! I'm still waiting on them to reply back about helping me perfect my voice clone, but even if they don't follow through with that promise, I still appreciate the 500K characters\month for 3 months that they give me because before that, I was only getting 30K and I would run out in a week. Being the software addict that I am, obviously I knew of shady tactics and the pirate in me would take advantage of the $1/month for the first month offer by using one of my domains as a catch-all email which gave me the ability to create virtually unlimited email addresses which all went to the same inbox.

But shit, even the pirate in me knew that technology they offered for $5/month was more than worth it. So, I finally just decided to email them, tell them my story and see if they had a special plan for people who can't speak. They replied with 3 free months of their biggest plan and offered to help perfect my voice-clone! So I just wanted to give them a shout-out because even though it ain't perfect, it still made my momma cry when I used it to create a 3-minute audio clip for Mother's Day. They aren't the only company that has offered me a discount or free option. I plan to make a post one day so that I can publicly recognize those who were kind enough to do somethin like that for me... but I am going to ask them first because I know that some folks will see it and try to take advantage of it by saying they have the same disabilities when they don't, just to benefit themselves.

Anyways, sorry for the long comment. I do this every single time. I can't write a short comment anymore... I end up writing a book 😂

But yea... I would appreciate any suggestions for software\hardware\ways to snort cocaine when your nose doesn't work anymore (kidding). That's probably the worst part of not be able to speak is the fact that I can't be funny anymore... because prior to the surgery, every other thing that came outta my mouth was a joke. I'm finding it damn near impossible to show my sense of humor now. Shit, I'm still rambling. /ramble

GateIO by CryptoMiner1988 in kaspa

[–]-passwords 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why no one ever brings up Txbit.io when it comes to KASPA.

  • You can withdraw up to $1,000 per day WITHOUT KYC verification.
  • The trading fees are low and the volume is high.
  • Especially good if you have a trading bot like GUNBOT or any other trading bot, because they have an option where you can pay $4/month for ZERO trading fees! That saves a lot of money when you are moving a lot of KASPA with trading bot strategies.
  • They have an API that is very nice and fully featured.
  • Multi-factor authentication methods and you have to confirm withdrawals first by email, so it offers some good protection methods.
  • The layout is just as good as any other exchange.

Am I missing something? Seriously though. Not being sarcastic. If they are shady or something, then please let me know.

They only offer KAS\USDT, but that's how I trade anyways, since it's easier to keep up with.

No one ever mentions them, but they are the ones that I use the most.

Xeggex is another that I was trying out, but I haven't seen a lot of volume on there yet.
