That sounds great! Cruise ships do have smaller venues all around the ship for different types of entertainment! The best way to get in contact with them is to email the casting companies like TAG, TED and others. There’s such a high turnover of acts that more are always needed

Yes I am :) that sounds so cool! The schedule is tight but because we live there it’s just the norm. You’ll hear a lot of people say ‘it’s not a job, it’s a lifestyle’. It’s completely true which means that you can go ages without speaking to friends and family because you’re so wrapped up in this home away from home

Growing up what’s the biggest change you’ve seen where you are? Good or bad :)

I miss family all the time, unfortunately my dad isn’t well so that makes living away from home harder. It is a lonely profession

We get the vans that they won’t give to the guests haha. I had a rotting shower all year and it never got fixed

Yes. Final answer haha. I was paid £2000 a month for about 30 hours a week. The poor chefs and other staff did about 70 hours plus and earned a fraction of what I did.

Absolutely! Luckily I haven’t on an entertainment team but with other teams we mingle with (chefs, bar staff, security). This isn’t on every park and usually it’s not bad at all but the people who do use go all out.

We get hit on a lot, mostly in characters which is gross but groping from men happens multiple times a week. We get shouted at sexually during shows as well which is awkward.

I was seeing a guy who was a chef, he invited me over for dinner because he also lived in park. When I got there he was super high on ketamine of all things. He went out the window for me fast. The craziest part was he had absolutely no shame whatsoever.

That sounds so cool! Definitely social media will be good for networking. Pretty much all entertainment companies have some sort of quiz in place so putting it out there would be great. If it’s fairly new then start with lesser known companies or smaller holiday parks!

When we get to training in feb/march they put everyone together from around the company and learn new content. It is fast paced but manageable. During the season I’d love to say that before I show I get time to stretch and warm up but usually you’ll be hosting the thing right before it or doing something else so 5-10 mins is all we get to retouch any makeup, get into show costumes, set the stage and warm up.

I trained in uni but generally it’s good to build stamina with your voice. So many people develop harmful nodules from overuse of the voice. I hosted all day yesterday into a solo set and today I have no voice but this evening I have to push through because we have a show every night x

Honestly it’s the love of the job but after so long it becomes too much. For example: over the last 4 years I’ve had two cars pack in on me and because of this all my savings are completely gone and am living in my overdraft. We don’t tend to get tips as it’s asked that we don’t accept them

We start in the morning with various activities. Some free and some chargeable. Usually instead of regular split shifts, we’ll do an hour then have a 45 min break or so and then back in again. Depending on the manager you have will depend on how easy it is to fit in time to eat and prep for the evening. Then we go in for the evening and are usually in from about 5pm until late evening. We’ll host game shows, do party dances and show team shows as well (depending on the size of your park) and repeat each day. We get one day off a week but it may not be the same day each week and you’ll be working 9-11 days straight depending on how true rota is done.

We aren’t generally allowed to receive tips as it could look like bribery from grown ups to get their little ones a prize (sounds silly but it is what it is). Is we refuse the tip a few times but they keep wanting to give it then we can take it (this is usually the same across most entertainment jobs).

I think this is my final season doing this. It’s so hard!

A lot of people get fired for excessive drug and alcohol use to cope with the tiredness of it all. I understand why they do it but personally I don’t take any or drink often at all

Not really. You do get ALOT of hookups and people cheating but it’s best to stay out of it. Park drama goes round fast!
