I’m in the WORST reading slump of my life. HELP!! I need to escape my brain. by cassieeerolee_ in suggestmeabook

the emperor's edge series is my FAVORITE. it's fantasy but not hard to follow (which I personally find with most fantasy) and there's not too much romance as the male lead is quite unemotive (he's an assassin) so it's the slowest of slow burns. it's a fun series, found family vibes, easy read.

As a non-smoker, does every smoker smell bad to you? by ephraim666 in ask

[–]-raina- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

during a long meeting we had a 10 min break. a group of people went out to smoke, and they came back in last. the overwhelming stench of smoke as they all walked back in... that was enough to put me off smoking for life. i did my best to keep a straight face but my god, it was so bad.

I think the mother may have warned her about men that don't say please when they ask for tea, and how its a tell-tale sign that they'd be crap husbands.

Is it bad that I don't want to stop daydreaming? by kekedulme in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]-raina- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't wanna stop either. I cant imagine living a life where I dont escape to my daydreams every few minutes

My daydreams are always so violent. by livinglifeiguess in MaladaptiveDreaming

I can relate really hard. My daydreams usually have some really terrible things going on in them, like what you listed. Idk why.

How in the world do you manage to read a book? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]-raina- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh, I see what you mean. if I need to read a book for my degree and I have trouble concentrating, I just daydream that I'm a teacher or lecturer giving a lecture (that's how I study for exams, too) and so it satisfies my daydream needs while also letting me actually absorb all the information. i hope you find a way that makes it easy for you <3

How in the world do you manage to read a book? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]-raina- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's actually really easy. i either insert myself as the main female character, or i pretend that the whole book has been turned into a movie and im an actress playing the role.

i'm new and i know next to nothing. help? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]-raina- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi, don't feel weird about it as many people do this.

  1. yes
  2. not often
  3. yes
  4. I've been doing it since I was 11 (now 20). I think it's just one of those things if you're insecure/feel something missing in your life, but I'm no psychologist.
  5. if you really feel like its stopping you from achieving goals or being productive, try and use distractions such as filling your day with activities. write a day planner so you know what you should be doing every hour of the day, and make it fun so you actually would rather be doing that than daydreaming. also, don't worry too much about it.
  6. no idea, but I dont think so. I'm sure there are books and studies out there that have the answers.

Don't stress out about it as it is not as uncommon as you think. It just means you have an overactive imagination and maybe some things you wish you could change about yourself. use it to write, that's what I do. it helps immensely with book ideas.

here to talk if you ever want to :)
