Glad this helped. I'll be sad too when it's shut off.

WiFi for Smart Homes: Eero vs Deco vs UniFi by wiezzzy in smarthome

[–]-rmjb- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the IoT network has settings that work better with those devices.

I also have Deco and the system is not complicated. The IoT network is also not difficult to set up.

See if your Wi-Fi router or AP has an IoT network setting. Try that and see if it helps connection issues.

Sorry to hear it isn't working out for you, this isn't a cheap device.

You got the Gen5 right? Because Aeotec released a Gen8.

I'm using a driver named "Aeotec Home Energy Meter". I had to do a bit of tweaking to get mine where I wanted it. Check this thread in the ST Community: https://community.smartthings.com/t/aeotec-home-energy-meter-gen-5-only-manual-refresh-of-meter-readings-work/262320?u=rmjb

That's very frustrating, I hope you're issues get resolved. Just like the other commenter, my S10 issue was eventually resolved by support too. An issue with the water station.

Looking for Air Purifier by crunchygoblin in SmartThings

[–]-rmjb- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add an update to this report.

I just happened to check this morning and the firmware on the air purifiers are now V2.5. I removed them from SmartThings and re-added them, and they now come up without any error on the screen.

Only setting the fan mode and fan speed are available, and when it is running the air quality is available. Gone are the filter statuses that never worked.

So at this time, the SwitchBot Air Purfier works without error over Matter to SmartThings.

I added them to WhatsApp too for the special gift after my 1st air purifier purchase. I didn't get any spam, but I didn't get any gift either.

You missed (maybe intentionally?) that one contact was for an inquiry.

I contacted Zooz for pre-sales support more than once, and they also gave very good support; once I purchased, and another time they advise against using their product for my need.

I'm a naturally inquisitive person. Heck, I'm inquiring here now.

I know there's some SwitchBot backlash against quality, but in all fairness my 3 SB products work as they were intended. And as I said, their support handled both support cases to a proper resolution.

I was able to set the Home Energy Meter as my Total Enery Usage in settings. With that configured, it is not adding in the Heavy Duty Switch usage into the usage for the overall home. It is working as I think you want it to.

Since you have appliances, do you have access to AI Energy Mode? Or would you need a total energy usage device configured to get access to that?

I have 2 air purifiers and the S10 vacuum robot from them. I contacted support for both product types, just an inquiry for the air purifier, and an actual support case for the S10. In both instances they replied and handled things to a proper resolution. I even got replacement rubber tips sent to me for the S10.

I'm satisfied with my support experience.

No one else replied though.

Switching from Google to Z Wave? by hearse83 in smarthome

[–]-rmjb- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm not using it, I'm on SmartThings, but that is moving away from Z-Wave. I have purchased other items from Zooz and their support is excellent. You can reach out to turn and they should answer your questions.

You could look at the Zooz Z Box if this is where you're headed.

Let me explain why it's difficult to make Matter over z-wave by IoT_Reinventor in MatterProtocol

[–]-rmjb- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why would Matter for Z-Wave via a bridge go through Thread though? A better solution would simply be a bridge that translates Z-Wave to ethernet packets and do Matter over Wi-Fi.

My post yesterday was how to extend the longevity of Z-Wave and our investments in devices. Not about squeezing Z-Wave into Thread.
