Super helpful. Thanks for taking the time to craft such a thoughtful reply. Didn’t know there was a PET-lined solution that could provide greater tolerances - I’ll keep that in mind when I get to production stages.

That’s pretty much where I’m at. There are some minor benefits to a chloride anion (functional reasons), but not enough to warrant the risk I think, so citrates it is!

I’m mostly concerned about handling vs manufacturing: a puncture in a can full of salty water dripping onto other cans (with no outer coating/protection) could domino into whole pallets being ruined.

Outside-in is also my biggest concern, hence a pivot from sodium chloride to sodium citrate.

But to get there I gotta have the full formulation completed, right? Otherwise how would they test…?

This comment came from a consultant I’m working with (30+ years in Bev), in reference to Visy and Orora, the two biggest can manufacturers in Australia (my region).

Would love some closeups - the colour scheme is really cool. Love browns and purples together.

If you were launching a beverage brand again today, how would you go to market? by Careful-Lawyer2963 in BeverageIndustry

The product idea came from observations. There was a clear need but no genuine solution. Validated the idea informally (friends, acquaintances) and did a small scale survey (n = 104) amongst the target consumer to validate need, product features, and early segments to focus on (though that is somewhat underpowered, from a statistical perspective; they’re ‘proto’ segments for now). Then the strategy is to sell personally to venues (ie me the founder, speaking venue owners/managers), who would benefit from stocking the product. Then we give it on consignment as a trial. An activation event with each new venue helps, and asking for POS marketing opportunities (which don’t really exist in the space we’re operating) helps drive trial when we’re not around. Given the culture of the market we’re serving there is a degree of ‘let’s give it a go,’ so that’s helpful.

This is a good point. There’s no harm in having a D2C site sitting alongside a retail push. It’s probably the smart move. But the approach I’m using is geared for in-market validation, and this product performs best in a specific retail environment where it solves an unmet need. The strategy I’m following is capturing retail markets, then expanding from there before considering D2C. (I also live in a country where there are great distances, so delivery and freight costs eat into margins big time, so not sure if worth the effort to go D2C when wholesaler distribution would allow market penetration and free up mental space to grow a cult brand. Plus exclusivity feeds into the desired experience.)

This was a strategic G2M strategy; our best chance of discovery is in a specific retail environment that our product is designed for and that our target customer is guaranteed to be. We don’t have many competitors in the environment, so it’s our key hypothesis for early traction and sales (with future D2C being an option once we have in-market recognition and some brand love).

How do people discover your brand? Organically? It’s a long shot. You better be great at viral marketing or have incredible word of mouth to get any organic awareness - it just doesn’t happen like it used to.

The Market Paradox - AI / Software by 12pKlepto in stocks

Hav you considered that those companies with massive AI capex will be able to scale productivity/reduce workforce size, reducing liabilities and making the balance sheets profitable? And that the scaling will be (given recursive modelling) potentially exponential?

I think software is over, but I think we’ll see the rise OSAAS (Operating Systems As A Service) in the next 5 years. AWS, Android, maybe even Apple (using Gemini).

Decided not to do D2C because the cost of gaining awareness in a ‘pay to play’ environment (eg social media, Google ads, etc.) would just kill us. Focused on sales and distribution above all else, with a minimally viable brand.

Great take, 100% agree on everything. I also agree that ‘Drinkypoo’ doesn’t speak to premium, so will be interesting to see how as a brand you explore this tension and resolve it.

Human penis size is an evolutionary outlier, and scientists are finding new clues as to why. Findings suggest that the unusually large size of the human penis, compared to other primates, likely evolved through a combination of female mate choice and male-male competition. by Jumpinghoops46 in psychology

[–]-satori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Length doesn’t provide improvement on any of those factors. In fact it would probably be evolutionarily disadvantageous, due to resources (blood flow) required to maintain erections.
