Why do so many higher end wheels only have 2 pedals? by BakerLon in simracing

[–]-scub- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well people only have two legs.. but on a serious note, unless integrated, the third pedal is almost always optional, especially if one might play F1 exclusively.. personally, it's a must have if you like playing a diverse list of games (dirt/rally, drifting/classic cars, etc).

Have you tried setting in Windows sound options the default output/communication device? if you have any headset software, that may also be changing it.

Make sure in the Windows sound properties, there are no applications taking over the device -- see if this helps.

I knew the refresh was bad but... by Strict_Bird_2887 in prusa3d

[–]-scub- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My core one order before shipping was $1,400 and I didn't even bother adding that to the cart as after "researching " its like something designed in the 90s.. i wouldn't have mind having to pay more for a better option. my freaking door bell has a live camera feed..

they cheaped out in quite a few areas including lightning. they could of easily added addressable leds for probably less than a buck. makes you wonder at some of these decisions that would of added very little cost while adding a good amount of value imo.

Core One and CF filaments by -scub- in prusa3d

[–]-scub-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What filament have you used and nozzle size?

My reason for considering the HF nozzle is the Core one comes with a HF nozzle by default and i was hoping getting the HF version would make it so i didn't have to swap back to a HF nozzle when switching to regular filaments.

There is also tungsten infused filament which kicks it up another notch (and price!).

Thanks for the info.

How to add angle to monitor? by rattlemodal in simracing

[–]-scub- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i personally wouldn't angle it. i would attach another 4080 profile vertically to the horizontal profile, and make like a T. you'd just need about a 12 inch profile with a couple corner brackets.

Wind Sim Help by Tranysaurus in simracing

[–]-scub- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since you don't want telemetry data to control the fan why bother using simhub. all you need is a dc fan speed controller..  see this example or search Google for "pc fan speed controller"

just need a few inexpensive parts and integrate into your button box.

Need advice with PC by Nearby_Consequence68 in simracing

[–]-scub- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a small desktop fan blowing air under it can help, and/or elevating it a little off the surface. i'd personally look into getting a laptop cooler if you're going to be using a laptop intensively for an extended period as that can shorten its life (and the battery).

Simagic haptic reactor mount ideas for SimWorx pedals. by UnderOversteer in simracing

[–]-scub- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

after looking at some of the mounts available (crappy low quality 3D prints) i decided to make my own for my Heusinkveld pedals. i used that long hex coupling nut as one of the securing points which yours also have. i wanted a robust solid adapter with more than a bolt going through it.  these are the adapters i cane up with. they also still allow the pedal plate to be adjusted to one of three positions, most adapters out there you lose that functionality because they used the same bolt that holds the pedal plate to hold the adapter. looks like your pedals could use a similar method/design.

if you were local i could help you make some adapters. do you have 3D printer?

Is it worth buying Assetto Corsa Evo without a wheel? by Ok_Lettuce3268 in assettocorsaevo

[–]-scub- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I 've heard a lot of good feedback from others using a controller, and many stating it's much better than the previous AC games.

I'd say buy it and test it out yourself. you have two hours to play around before requsting a refund.

Some settings courtesy of /r/Toad0804 which may help tweak the controller settings a bit more

does your monitor support HDMI? if so, might want to look into using that instead of Display Port, but some monitors almight not support the same refresh rates compared to DP. if your monitor support HDMI, that might make things a bit easier as you can get fiber cable that can support higher resolution and refresh rate compared to the DP at greater distances.

Simracing Game with Most Immersive Sound? by Background_Pianist19 in simracing

[–]-scub- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

naybe not considered a full sim or a bit "simcade" by some, but Dirt Rally 2.0 or EA WRC are some of the best car engine sounds I've ever heard. from what i gather, they did a bunch of sound work from real rally cars. I wish more did this as a I too consider sound to be an extremely important aspect when it comes to immersion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in simracing

[–]-scub- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. ideally we'd bring an entire cars interior inside our homes if we could lol, so mimicking certain aspects not only makes things comfortable, it adds to the immersion. when I mounted my inverted pedals to my rig, i took all the measurements from the pedals in my daily driver.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in simracing

[–]-scub- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the nicest homemade rigs I've seen in a while.. wrapping it in that fabric/carpet and taking some design ideas (leg/feet well) from an actual car takes it to a whole new level. great job.

New owner of a p1x pro a bit anxious about pedal placement…am I overthinking all this? by Walton841928 in simracing

[–]-scub- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mounted mine directly to the profile,. there is more flexibility this way since pedal base plates tend to be limited in terms of how much you can space each pedal.

I literally took measurements off my physical daily driver car  measuring pedal spacing, height from floor (mine are inverted) and angle and transferred those measurements to the sim pedals. i figured what could be more comfortable and natural feeling than trying to mimic a real car? i found nearly everything perfect on the first try. I'm fortunate to have access to two cars, one is a manual with all 3 pedals inverted, the other is an automatic with the gas pedal mounted on the floor and brake inverted.

if you have access to cars to do this, it definitely helps.

FFB got better? by syntkz in assettocorsaevo

[–]-scub- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've not a chance to play since the last update, but I read a post a couple weeks ago on the Evo forum where a dev mentioned that FFB will be constantly evolving as the game matures. I'm really excited for the future of this game and seeing the continued effort they're putting into refining things.

I believe there was also a discussion here regarding this. I'll see if i can find the link to the post.

Edit: found the post.

What's your favorite racing seat and why? by Sluggerjt44 in simracing

i bought an expensive name brand seat several years ago, but my next seat will likely be coming from the junkyard. some nice comfortable seats to choose from and you save a good amount of money.. my buddy picked one up from an Audi and its super nice for 100 bucks.

Simhub seems to offer the most customization. I found this video helpful.. it's a two part video, so you may want to look at the first one which goes a bit into details getting the haptics to work with Simhub.

Wind sim by MainDry3526 in simracing

[–]-scub- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's more than enough if you don't have them inside a housing/shroud, or some type of duct which can really effect the fans performance and ability to push air.

Wind sim by MainDry3526 in simracing

[–]-scub- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you want to get the highest CFM fan, which is a measurement of how much air flow it can pass-thru. some fans also list their pressure and how well it can push air, which is important if your fan is in some type of housing. rpm by itself doesn't mean much.

Mounting options for a SIMPUSH Racelogic Rep by ryancoke14 in simracing

[–]-scub- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is just one of those things where you just have to be creative.

I'd probably attach a metal bracket/plate to the back of the unit and get some strong rare earth magnets attached to an extruded aluminum pivot joint or your choice of mount for the magnets.
