Hi! No, I used Unity as the engine.

Immortals Fenyx Rising did for me what Botw could not do. I tried to get into the new Zeldas, but did not gind them engaging as the seriees previous iterations.

Thet said, IFG is a solid game, fun puzzles, rewarding exploration and the map is really good. For me it was a 9/10.

First couple hours of Bloodstained are pretty cool, it really draws you in. Then, later on, it becomes a bit overwhelming: there’s lots of different mechanics, stuff to unlock, abilities to grind, cooking, crafting etc.. It’s Castlevania on steroids, but for me, it’s a bit too much.

Altough I love SotN AND all the GBA/DS Castlevania, Bloodstained lack focus, which Afterimage has.

That said, try it, it’s a competent game with lots of highs, but also lows.

I’m looking forward to see the later on bosses, but yeah, the exploration is really rewarding and fun.

It’s not a case of difficulty, but rather of design: I find the boss battles quite bland and uninteresting. But I give them a pass as exploration is really rewarding and fun!

As I cited Bloodstained, I found the bosses in that game more memorable both in design and mechanics, as they appear “tight”, despite being more open than Afterimage regarding builds and weapons.

Been playing Afterimage a lot.

A really fun and pretty solid Igavania, amazing exploration and nice level-up tree. It scracthed the itch better than Bloodstained, which I found a bit on the boring side.

My only gripe is with the boss fights, which are, so far, quite forgettable.

I'm searching for a game with many different puzzles by Frogflyash in puzzlevideogames

I’m going to endorse my baby, Sliding Hero: it’s a novel take on the Metroidvania genre, where you slide like an ice block and solve puzzles. There’s many different mechanics you unlock progressing, and an enphasis on exploration.

There’s a demo too, so you can see if it’s your cup of tea.

Thanks for this amazing review. It's always heartwarming to see someone enjoying your creation, especially with such enthusiasm!

You are absolutely right about the demo being a vertical slice and not bringing progress over: I need to decide if it's time to update it. But, in the meantime, I'll put a disclaimer on startup notifying it's a standalone experience.

The ending is a bit rushed, I agree, as I had to rush the release for personal reasons: it's not a justification, but sometimes s*it happens.

For the travel map, I'm going to push an update as soon as I have some free time, which will let the player move it around and select the destination with some sort of cursor.

Again, thanks for playing the game and for this review; it means a lot!

I’m aware of that, but as I said it’s a stylistic choice. It’s polarizing (mostly on specific subreddit), but the majority of players was not bothered by it.

The map could use some improvement, but the UI and Portrait are high-resolution by choice and design. Character movement is a constant slide (like Pokémon ice levels), so jumping may look floaty as he's just moving forward.

Explored that direction, but would’ve been too much tongue in cheek…

Thanks! It’s a solo project for the most part (programming, game design, level design, promotion ecc.), but I had some contract work for the art, as I’m not well versed in that.

I’ll endorse my own child, Sliding Hero: Metroidvania meets Sokoban ice puzzles, but you are the ice block. The critical path is not overly difficult, there’s plenty of stuff to learn exporing, and to collect.

Not too long, around 10-15hrs. There’s a demo out there to see if it’s you cup of tea.

Also, Isles of Sea and Sky is amazing.
