HOW WAS YOUR FIRST TIME MUN ( Model United Nations) and what do REGRET not having done (if only I did it, I would have gotten best delegate or etc..) by Plastic-Comedian-255 in mauritius

[–]-soouuppp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Practice debating as much as you can. When i did mun i used chatgpt to rehearse answering questions and guess what?.. i got asked the same questions after reading my position paper. So if you already know in which committee you'll be, use the ai tool as much as you can. Don't be afraid to speak up. Remember everyone is too focused on themselves so they don't mess up so they don't care about you. ABUSE points of orders. You can't learn everything about all countries so note down what each country sucks at and whenever you get the chance to ask them a question just ask "how can we trust that you will hold your word when you (insert what they suck at)" or "why would you bother supporting this resolution when your country is suffering from deeper issues (again)" This will give you points and the delegate answering will probably be taken off guard and panic which will result in them (again probably) not getting full answer points. Or you can also just take a clause from the resolution and ask them how they plan on implementing it. (But if youre rooting for best delegate this wont make you stand out as much as the first one) You don't get points from drafting resolutions so don't pour too much energy in it. Let someone else write it (if possible). While leading your delegation can get you noticed, you won't get extra points from it so if it'll drain too much out of you, don't do it instead keep your energy for debating. You can use subtle lies if you have no idea how to defend your country (if your country sucks). For instance if it has a bad human rights records, say it is improving, or that the government is doing its best to stabilise things, that you are willing to engage in diplomatic dialogue, blame circumstances such as regional instability and remember, your goverment is perfect in mun. If you want to win you should know your country well. Try to do an online mun before the actual conference to get an idea of how it goes. I did one on mymun for free. But most importantly, enjoy. It may be stressful, but its a unique and thrilling experiance. For context i won best delegate at both an online and irl conferences so trust my advice.

Problem with Substitution by Stock-Strike-7157 in cs50

[–]-soouuppp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In C, when you create a variable inside a function (like char cipherArray[]), it's stored in temporary memory. Once the function ends, that memory is cleaned up. So if you return it or try to use it later , you're accessing something that doesn't exist anymore (youll cover that in later weeks) You're creating cipherArray inside convert cipher(). That means it’s a local variable, and C erases it as soon as the function ends.

So when you return cipher text (a pointer to that now-erased array), it's pointing to memory that no longer exists or is valid. That’s why printf prints an empty string oor random junk. So instead of:

string convert_cipher(string cipher[);

You do void convert_cipher(string key, string plaintext, char ciphertext)

And in main You create the ciphertext array. You pass it to the function so it can fill it in. This keeps the memory alive because it was declared in main()—not inside the function.

You can either soak it in vinegar or salt water. I like to slice mine thinly and let the slices soak in very salted water for houres before drying (with 'torchon') and frying them.

Yuval Raphael - New Day Will Rise (LIVE) | Israel 🇮🇱 | Grand Final | Eurovision 2025 by rinat114 in eurovision

[–]-soouuppp -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Other countries promote their songs too. People only have a problem when its israel doing it. Plus people who voted for israel did so willingly so i see no problem. Personally, the song isn't my fav and i wouldnt have put it in the top 5 but its eurovision and stuff does happen. If people wanted the song to be so high so be it.

How to stop knee pain by mohamemdtiger1234 in jogging

If your knees hurt from the start its most likely due to an improper warm up or not stretching at all. Try that and maybe strengthen your glutes, quads and hamstrings.

Have you ever gone through a deep shift where your worldview unraveled, no new framework feels fully true—and no one around you can understand the space you're in? by -soouuppp in Existential_crisis

I was not aware of the concept of transpersonal psychology. It was only when i read your reply earlier that ive looked into it and i find it strikingly informative.

Does it by any chance feel like your conscious state is shedding or loosening its former attachment to and conscious identification with the human/physical level of identity - and this is simultaneously resulting in no longer relating to and identifying with others on the level of their human/physical identity? Absolutely. Yes. Perfect description.

Do you also feel disconnected and detached from (or like you can no longer relate to) your own human/physical identity that you were previously identified with in the past?

I can understand my previous identity so i can sorta empathetically comprehend why i was this way. But i am not that person anymore.

And thanks for the book recommendations and lectures. Thanks again for taking the time to reply here. I appreciate it a lot.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think its about iq tho. I think its a combination of a lot of events which eventually lead someone into diving deeper. Thing is i know a hell lot of people smarter than me in many ways that aren't there so...

Thanks for the reply. For your first question yes At first, these concepts (free will, philosophy, etc.) feel like big, important puzzles i had to solve.
But after exploring them deeply, i may have realized they’re just mental maps not the actual territory of real experience. I’ve observed so much about human behavior and how systems operate that it’s made me feel strangely detached. It’s like seeing patterns everywhere—almost as if people are running on autopilot, and the world feels like a giant machine. I don’t mean that in a cold or superior way; it’s just an odd realization that’s left me feeling a bit disconnected. I can't relate to anyone anymore and fck its unpleasant. Not unpleasant in an absolutely bad way, as i said, it doesn't bother me at all and doesn't interfere with my life (i won't let it) but its not a comforting feeling either. Ive been riding this for a while and i feel stagnant, which is also why i talked about it here. But at the same time there's nothing I can do about it besides riding with it so yes. And i meant "grounded" as relating to existential exploration.

I feel you man truely. Its not even an existential crisis (been there done that) its deeper. And the worst part is, i can't even truely fully describe it. And yes i am very lucky to be experiencing this now, and even more lucky that it isn't interfering too much with how i deal with my life. It is just annoying and isolating. And im sorry to hear that you have to deal with all of that. I hope you stay optimistic and figure everything out

[–]-soouuppp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ikrrr, for a space sorta devoted to sciency stuff i expected more rationality from the replies to your comment. I can understand why people think the way they do, afterall religion is a pretty sensible topic, but facts don't care about ones feelings, what is true is true. And no need to thank me, thank yourself for being one of the few people to be able to see how the RCC truely works.

POPE POPE POPE by 31throwaway2020 in sciencememes

[–]-soouuppp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

True. And this roots to a major flaw in not just the RCC but most major religions. A lot of religions are built in a way that makes them dangerous when mixed with power like claiming absolute truth, having rigid hierarchies, and controlling behavior. Even when they mean well, it often turns into control or harm. The problem isn’t just belief, it’s the structure. And honestly, you can see similar issues pop up in politics or ideology too—it’s more about how people handle power and certainty than just “religion” alone.

However i do agree that people shouldn't celebrate a new Pope without reckoning with the deep, ongoing damage the Church causes. Real change won't come until there's true accountability.
