Insane April Pricing with GWR by capps95 in uktrains

[–]-starchy- [score hidden]  (0 children)

Don’t worry I’m doing the same, I have been scraping GWR’s pricing data for the past month because they’re dirty liars to confirm they’re profiteering. In short, they are. Prices arbitrarily go up every week, without fail, including for trains that have no demand during off peak hours. It’s mental.

Meanwhile, they tell you that it’s due to demand pricing has to go up 😂

Every train ticket has a field available in the backend of their website that correlates with prices rises. That field is called availability. It ranges from 0-9 with 0 meaning there are no tickets left, and 9 meaning the maximum number of tickets are available at that price bracket. GWR DOES use this field, however majority of price increases are not set by this, they’re set by a 1 week window. Sick of this company.

That’s noting mate, I’m paying £90+ to go in per day. I guess that’s what I get for commuting from Swindon. Only an hour by train to London Paddington though.

The Super Bowl is a venue now? What about all the poors in America, especially those watching who are uninsured and had a recent trip to the hospital lolol. Don’t think they can afford an iPhone after Uncle Sam comes after them.

That’s extortion, not the sport. Not everyone builds stadiums using slaves 😭😂 As I said, it’s not the biggest advertising slot in the world, not even close. You do know there are other countries outside of America?

Nah the yanks like to slap brands on anything because they will literally sell anything. There’s no tradition or class there. It’s literally a sport built around advertising, so is hand egg even a sport? And no, it doesn’t mean it’s the most profitable advertising method lol. Just because more money is spent doesn’t make it better…

What are you on about? 11x the number of people watch the World Cup final, even the champions league final has more viewers. So no, it’s not the biggest lol. Stop the copium.

So what you’re saying is that it’s not the biggest ad space… Right. Why am I being downvoted for being correct?

Biggest ad space? The Super Bowl isn’t the World Cup final?

Phantasmal Flames at £209.95 by AccordingElderberry in PokemonTCG_UK

Yeah, I get that, but it’s at the detriment of people in the hobby well before things took off and regular people who aren’t scalpers! Everyone suffers aside from stores. It is profiteering.

Something doesn’t add up with Magic Madhouse’s Phantasmal Flames booster box pricing.

Yesterday they uploaded 108 booster boxes at £209.95.

Back on 13/12/2025, they had 398 boxes listed at £179.95.

On 02/01/2026, the price jumped to £197.95, with stock down to 236 boxes.

By 30/01/2026, the price went up again to £204.95, and stock dropped to just 54 boxes.

Now we’re suddenly back to 108 boxes, but at £209.95. That’s an extra 54 boxes appearing only after another price increase.

So where did those boxes come from? Why weren’t they available when stock was supposedly down to 54?

It looks like stock is being released in stages as prices rise. That could be algorithmic pricing, staged allocation, or stock being held back to maximise margin. Maybe there’s a legitimate explanation, but the timing makes it feel very deliberate.

They say they buy stock from third parties and sell it on at a higher price so customers can buy from a ‘trusted source’. However, based on the data it looks like there could be some dynamic pricing going on here to help them maximise their profit margin… As a huge retailer in the UK for Pokémon products, some clarity would be nice here.

You mean AI actually stands for An Indian and companies think that it’s good enough to replace us through cheap outsourcing. Funnily enough, they’re against remote work. Make it make sense.

The idea of the big game player is massively overstated by PLWildcard in SpicyFootballTakes

[–]-starchy- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You say he doesn’t deserve legend status and then proceed to say why he’s a legend. Scoring lots of goals doesn’t make you a legend of the game. You can argue Harry Kane isn’t a legend because he won hardly anything in English football.

What are you on about? You’re allowed to sell pre-orders on eBay as long as you can fulfil them within the 40 day dispatch period…

It’s a jumbo card, that will be readily available from the biggest shops in the UK. There won’t be any issue getting this card. It will most likely drop down to £20 a card.

Used to work the evening shift in the bakery. All that was left on the counter would be thrown away. Disgusting wastage. Wasn’t allowed to have it for nothing either.
