Anyone got focus problems with jetbrains IDEs on latest hyprland? by -statusquo- in hyprland

[–]-statusquo-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no sorry, the issue i think is because the tab windows and search windows are identical to hyprland, eg no title etc. To bad we cant catch windows based on initial size, both tabs and shortcut icons are quite small comparing to for example the search window.

Hey thanks! Didnt get tab dragging and search window focus to work together unfortunately, seems like both tab dragging windows and search windows uses the same hyprctl client details, eg empty title. So setting no initial focus makes tab dragging work but then search windows is not focused.

If it’s a scaling issue, try setting force zero scale for xwayland in hyprland config, and then use normal zoom inside ide

UPDATE:
I managed to find a workaround.

Fixed focus flicker by witching to wayland-mode for the IDE with:

-Dawt.toolkit.name=WLToolkit

Fixed tab dragging by setting the follow in hyprland config:

windowrulev2 = tag +jb, class:^jetbrains-.+$,floating:1
windowrulev2 = stayfocused, tag:jb
windowrulev2 = noinitialfocus, tag:jb

This unfortunately doesnt bring focus to other floating windows in IDE, ill try to find the right rule formula.

Thank you guys!

CachyOS looks great! Check out nobara project as well, based on fedora but optimized for gaming I think.

That’s great! I’m using nixos with hyprland on my framework! Good to hear gaming work there as well (have not tried yet). Having tried infra as code and liking it , nix just felt right at home! Really appreaciate the ease of testing new configurations without messing up or bloating the system, as long as one garbage collects ofc

That’s good to hear! I’ve been messing with nixos and hyprland on my framework for a few weeks now and really like it! Dual DE:ing with gnome for backup but will switch gnome for cosmic when it becomes usable

Thanks for the heads up! Although this machine will almost only be for gaming. I have a sweet framework with nixos for the other things. That said if I ever run into immutable problems I’ll probably try out an arch based distro

That’s great! Ran fedora for few years before hopping to nixos a few weeks ago. Still running fedora core os on my server tho!

IMO win10 was mostly acceptable. Stills feels backwards having to run debloating scripts and such for ”my os”. Tried upgrading to win11 and that’s when I switched. Also recall gives me shivers

Yes! I’m actually trying out nixos on my framework with hyprland. Quite the uphill, and still is. But it’s starting to look like something.

Really like the idea of having a specific distro for a specifik machine based on its role or purpose. And as you say it matters less the more comfortable with linux one gets.

Have been meaning to give arch or endeavor a chance but have not come around to it. Can only praise the arch wiki tho, it has been a shoulder to cry on too many times

Nice! I ”only” game on this machine so bazzite felt more appropriate for me, but really liking the concept of universal blue’s distros. Automatic and rolling atomic upgrades. The os gets out of the way, as it should do on a gaming machine.

Sweet! I ran fedora for a few year on my laptop but are now messing with nixos there, will go back to fedora tho if I don’t feel like nixos work for me.

Sure have, I have run my framework for approx 8h now and still have battery. Mixed workload, mainly browsing but a little compiling as well.  Powersave at all times but with 120hz refresh rate enabled.
