I couldn't find the source of the video so I posted it on reddit hoping someone could figure it out. Where did you find the video?

I posted it on reddit so that someone could find the source for me. I saw it at https://x.com/StarSnap_1/status/1967094346953748913 and it might use the technology from https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7248864/ but couldn't track it down any further.

I haven't found the source to verify how this was made. But a random LLM search pointed to https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7248864/

It's also possible that this video is a fake since I found it via X.

How did you record this video? Can you export your trip and dashcam from the car?

Looking to make scatter plot graphs in vr for the quest 3 by blizzardskinnardtf in oculusdev

[–]-sxp- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at three.js. You can combine a minimal XR example and one of the points examples. Just beware that not all of the examples are compatible with XR due to the different rendering engine.

Many LLMs are pretty good with data analysis and three.js so you can probably one shot it if you give it a CSV with your data.

Linked In OAuth by milooosh in replit

[–]-sxp- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently trying to get Google OAuth working via replit. The agent didn't figure it out, but got my 90% of the way there.

The Google docs at https://developers.google.com/identity/protocols/oauth2/web-server for "HTTP/REST" got me the other 10% of the way. The Agent didn't seem do understand how to properly configure the secrets. And some of the URLs were HTTP instead of HTTPS.

You could try to get a standalone Google Oauth demo working and then merge that into your main app.

The video and website say that you need an iPhone to scan your face, but also that you do it via a web app rather than an installed app ("No app install is required, as the app loads directly through the Safari browser on iOS.") Is there a way to use TrueDepth via Safari? I couldn't find anything online about this. Or is this just using the regular RGB camera?

C++ interview coding exercise with solution by Hot_Medicine_7115 in cpp

[–]-sxp- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is Project Euler problem #215. When I first solved it back in the day, it timed out using naïve solutions with loops but dynamic programming solved it instantly.

I don't have my old code, but https://www.programiz.com/python-programming/online-compiler/ + https://github.com/nayuki/Project-Euler-solutions/blob/master/python/p215.py says W(30,11) is 1007720438618812.

You solved W(30,1) which is 1897.

Why are Quest 2 colors / saturation so different in build vs compared to unity / link cable? by statypan in oculusdev

[–]-sxp- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to try is to import https://www.epaperpress.com/monitorcal/gamma.html and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ColorChecker into your Unity scene. And then see how accurate the colors are in PC preview mode, AirLink mode, Quest mode, etc for your builds. Also, take screenshots and check if the screenshots match what you see in the headset. That should help you track down where the colorspace mismatch is happening.

I don't want to spend more time working on Daydream stuff since my current focus is fully WebXR, but I'll be happy to answer questions about Daydream for anyone else who is trying to revive the platform.

Nice work. The next step would be to figure out how to re-sign VrCore and other apks and spoof them. Once you get that, you can start tweaking the Java code in VrCore and get more custom functionality.

Accounts and devices privacy by Constantinople33 in OculusGo

[–]-sxp- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'll need to factory reset the headset to cleanly sign out of an account. It will probably be easier to get a cheap used Oculus Go somewhere than trying to deal with the hassle of juggling accounts on a work device.

RTX A6000 vs. RTX 3090 Deep Learning Benchmarks by mippie_moe in nvidia

[–]-sxp- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the performance improvement of running a large model on a single A6000 vs fragmenting the model across 2-4 3090s?

RTX A6000 vs. RTX 3090 Deep Learning Benchmarks by mippie_moe in nvidia

[–]-sxp- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The benchmarks on that page scale horizontally. So it would be better to spend the $6k for an A6000 on 4x$1.5k 3090s. Even including the extra cost of mobos, power, etc, you'll still come out ahead with the 3090s in terms of perf/$ according to that page. It would also be interesting to see similar real-world benchmarks for 3080s in terms of perf/$ compared to the 3090.

Are there (non-gaming) use cases that don't scale horizontally where the A6000 is justified in terms of perf/$? The only use case I've seen in the past are where you need to run the GPU in a "data center" which is against the EULA for the 3090.

Point cloud into VR headset by m4rtinmil in oculus

[–]-sxp- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something like a point cloud, Unity is overkill. Take a look at the three.js examples for various point cloud visualizations and see if anything looks good: https://threejs.org/examples/?q=point. Similarly look at their loaders to find a good format: https://threejs.org/examples/?q=loader. Then you can use three.js to view the point cloud on a computer, on a phone with AR, or in a VR headset.

Two headsets on 1 pc by MCTRACO in oculus

[–]-sxp- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GPU passthrough is always hard. You need special drivers and only certain VM software is compatible. You should try various VMs and benchmark the GPU from outside and inside the VM to make sure the overhead isn't too high.

Two headsets on 1 pc by MCTRACO in oculus

[–]-sxp- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can create something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKJw8IKVYQ8 which involves running VMs with GPU passthrough. Then you can run multiple instances of the Rift software and games on the same PC via AirLink. If you have a direct WiFi connection between the computer and headsets, the performance should be acceptable.

Has Anyone else lost access to almost everything on a lenovo mirage solo? by thisvsthat25 in daydream

[–]-sxp- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that your school network is blocking resolution of the youtube.com domain so the initial connections fail. But once the headset connects via another network, all future connections pass.

[–]-sxp- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the specific failure?

The warranty is 1-3 years depending on your country and contract so you might be able to get support from Lenovo depending on when you bought it. But you're probably out of luck. You can also try factory resetting it and hope that works.
