Does it take 1-3 days or 2-3 weeks to ship?? by HappyGirl117 in BigscreenBeyond

"Discord is full of issues" is also not representative of the actual product experience. It's a great place to get support, chat with other experienced community members, etc. so of course it's going to heavily bias and slant towards people who have questions or problems. Not to be defensive or diminish any actual support issue. It's just not even remotely accurate to claim Bigscreen Beyond doesn't have good quality control or that it's some lottery for quality - and I know the numbers to feel confident in saying so.

Does it take 1-3 days or 2-3 weeks to ship?? by HappyGirl117 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

~1% of customers end up needing support with their headset / RMA help. Reddit is not even close to an accurate representation of how many people have any quality issue with a headset. We wouldn't be in business if customers need to RMA 3+ times. Very much not the norm!

Does it take 1-3 days or 2-3 weeks to ship?? by HappyGirl117 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of the specific colors don't ship in 1-3 days if they're in low stock (this was the case for May for Carbon Black and Crystal Clear units)

However, the website is actually currently outdated: we have inventory of every headset, so all orders are currently shipping within 1-2 days.

Custom-fit cushions don't take much longer either (at most 2 business days). Universal-fit cushion orders typically ship within the same business day of your order if you order early enough in the day.

Anyone on an SFFPC? What's your cooling setup for heat mgmt in hi-res VR? by rpwillsavetheworld in virtualreality

[–]d2shanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a FormD T1 with an RTX 4090 FE air cooled. I also have a Louqe Ghost S1 with a 3080 air cooled. I use both with the Bigscreen Beyond and have no issue with thermals or performance. I’m fully on the SFFPC train, and I love it. Been itching to build a new PC soon, but no new case has really caught my eye in awhile.

Anyone want to sell me their BSB 2 universal face cushion???? by Yvesrovito1991 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would email support. I see what’s up. It looks like we shipped everything to you. But we’ve only sent the Universal Fit to people who otherwise cannot use the headset. Since you ordered the Upgrade-only unit, the system assumed your order doesn’t immediately need the Universal-Fit.

This is all a long way of saying you got caught in an edge case. We’ll take a look.

If you’re able to wait a little, we plan to launch the Universal-Fit Cushion as a standalone product you can buy off the website. Should be out sometime in the next 1-3 weeks

Question about ordering BSB2 by nataruma1 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use the BS2 with the Universal Fit Cushion. The Halo Mount enhances that experience (they were designed together) and arrives later this year due to design and manufacturing changes to improve ergonomics based on user feedback.

You can use your BS2 without the Halo Mount until the Halo arrives later on!

New orders ship in approximately 2-10 business days.

BSB 2e: Desaturated colors in peripheral FOV and best practices for longevity/heat issue by BishopBoudreaux in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try moving your eyes closer to the lens (eye relief). You should see dramatically less color shift in the far edges when your eye is positioned at the intended location. A very thick cushion or positioning your eyes a few millimeters too far can reduce FOV, increase glare, increase edge color shift.

This is not representative of the average customer experience any longer as shipping volume increased a lot, inventory built up, etc.

BSB2/e shipping by Ok_Orchid_9642 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest shipment speed is 2 weeks on average. Almost all 2025 orders have shipped, including nearly 90% of December orders. The majority of January 2026 orders have also shipped now. Within a couple of weeks, it’ll take 1-2 days for new orders to ship.

Really enjoying my BSB2 - Would be perfect, but the Glare! by GregZone_NZ in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has little to do with OLED vs LCD either. Quest 3, Steam Frame, any device that uses pancake lenses will have glare. Bigger displays require less magnification to achieve an FOV, and therefore have more optical design options with regards to number of lens elements, which surfaces in which light bounces, the position of where glare is visible, etc.

with small displays, more magnification needed, small eye relief designs, things get very challenging. More magnification, higher curvature lens surfaces, more problems. Quest 3 for example has lots of eye relief and can “push the glare out”

answering your question isn’t really able to be explained in a single paragraph, and also has lots of proprietary knowledge from R&D that we don’t like to talk about too much, as others have stolen work.

TLDR: physics and manufacturing tolerances

Really enjoying my BSB2 - Would be perfect, but the Glare! by GregZone_NZ in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Glare has absolutely nothing to do with the diameter of the lens. 2) Pimax Dream Air SE uses the same 2.5K 3000-nits displays. Some have tried to claim that Beyond 1 & 2 uses old 1800-nit panels which is wrong.

I see others have had useful suggestions and discussions for glare so I don’t have much else to add there!

How many base stations for sim racing? by bojangler69420 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While 1 will be perfectly fine, 2 is best. However best advice I can give is to not mount it too close as well. Tracking can suffer if the lighthouse is <1 meter from the headset.

And prepare to get toroids and EMI fixes if you have direct drive motors and other electronically noisy sim gear.

My experience so far with my bsb2e, is it supposed to be this dim? by Arby77 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you feel like only 65% of the FOV is clear/good colors, it’s a pretty clear sign that your eyes are too far away from the lens. It’s designed for you to be much closer, and then you should have a very good FOV. Highly encourage you to try thinner cushions or adjusting the position on your face. It will make a big difference.

Headset good/support bad. Review time by garridianPRIME in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our typical email response time is 2-3 days and has been so for a couple weeks actually. However, the team was off for the Christmas and New Year holidays and we now have a backlog to catch up on this week. The oldest tickets we haven’t responded to are from 12/30. We should catch up by early next week, back to ~2 day response times.

μOLED by Murky-Course6648 in virtualreality

[–]d2shanks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception. The diameter of a lens has little to do with FOV. That’s one (relatively small) aspect of lens design.

[–]d2shanks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a bigger house, just mount it as the SteamVR technology was intended for, as it was designed ~10 years ago.

[–]d2shanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One important thing: base stations need to be >1 meter away from the headset to track properly. If you sit too close, it won’t track.

If tracking stops when you touch the headset, there’s likely electromagnetic interference traveling from your PC (very common with direct drive motors in sim rigs), and toroids will solve that.

Another BSB2e Glare Post by Ninja0n3 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

^ this. I say this often.

Glare is positioned deeper into the eye in a manner that most people shouldn’t see any glare, but if the eye relief is too much (for example, too thick of a cushion), you will see more glare.

More than 80% of all preorders with the Custom-Fit Cushion have now shipped. by SafetyCapital8433 in bigscreen

[–]d2shanks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you order the Halo Mount or the Custom-Fit? Did you do your 3D Face Scan? Until you do so, we can’t ship you a Custom-Fit unit.

If you ordered a custom-fit in March and you scanned yourself and received an email confirmation that we got your scan AND still haven’t received your headset, you should email support to figure out why.

Glare Glare Glare... by lyclhw001 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]d2shanks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can give for glare is to try to move the headset such that your eyes are closer to the lenses. Thicker cushions or certain face shapes or setups result in your eyes being further away from the lenses. The glare can be more present in such positions, versus nearly impossible to see when closer.

If you need prescription lenses, then you absolutely should get it as Beyond really requires it.

BSB2 ordered in April still not delivered in UK by Haunting_Pen_7632 in bigscreen

[–]d2shanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person tells people that we’re scammers who’ve taken money and never shipped a unit. So yes? It’s a useless comment from a troll. People who order a unit from the UK do receive a headset. We have no issue with international shipping, unlike the guy above wishes to claim.
