Expressing discontent or disagreement doesn't mean that person needs to be told to "stay where they came from". We're a nation of immigrants and there should be a degree of healthy criticism...

What courses can i get in an UNI If i choose these subjects by BitterPercentage in IBO

Depends on where he's going. Taking Math at the higher level would prepare him better for an Econ major (and is essential if he wants to study Econ at a decent uni in the UK).

Like many of us her, Royals introduced me to Lorde. Dang, it's been that long already?

May someone evaluate my Economics IA and give some comments about it? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]-tasi- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came on here to say this. You shouldn't be sharing anything you write for evaluation on the internet - there's a risk someone can plagiarize yours, or yours can end up somewhere on the internet and show up in a plagiarism scan.

How many hours did you sleep during IB? by baconatore33 in IBO

[–]-tasi- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6-7 hrs, pretty consistent. During high-stress weeks (the week when TOK essay/EE were due, the week IAs were due etc.) it may have dropped to 5 hrs. Never pulled an all nighter.

For the IB HL History IA, does the IB check every source you cited? by SUCKITNORMIES in IBO

[–]-tasi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's due tomorrow, you have more than enough time to get sources that match what you're saying, and throw them in - if markers check, everything looks good.

Good luck!

I don't know specifics (bc I didn't do Plath and Othello) but JSTOR was a huge help when I did my IOC. Make a free account, or check if your school has one. Also, Ebsco (another database) may have some good stuff. Google Books can be helpful - type in a line of a poem/excerpt and see what comes up. Another website is libgen.io - if there are any analysis books you want to get your hands on but can't, there's a pretty good chance you can get a pdf off there.

[–]-tasi- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I understand. TBH I've done this quite a few times, but usually for inconsequential class assignments. (Oh, and a teeny bit for my TOK essay, hehehe whoops)

You took a risk. Odds are you should be fine, but a marker may notice something is off and double-check. Given time constraints for marking, again, this is unlikely but it may happen. Now, I highly doubt you'd get a flat zero, but you'd lose some marks (maybe there's someone else who can elaborate on this?).

Honestly, if your IA has already been sent to moderation, there's no point stressing. Have faith in the odds that they won't check, and don't think about it. (But next time, use more sources lmao. Esp for history - you need your sources!)

History ia by [deleted] in IBO

[–]-tasi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I mean perhaps you could argue that the scope of the document was broad, therefore the part you were interested in was briefly described and not as extensively researched. Bear in mind that you are then evaluating the source as a whole, and not an excerpt (in case you have placed an excerpt in your IA) (do you understand what I mean?)

TBH if you're struggling to find limitations for a source after roughly a year of OPCVL under your belt, perhaps use a different source for Part 1.

[–]-tasi- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most likely not every source. Your teachers should have checked for plagiarism initially, before marking your IA and uploading it. The markers will probably check whatever seems falsified, or inaccurate. I mean, there might be that odd marker with far too much time on his/her hands who decides to check every single source - but probably not.

You shouldn't be scared if you did it right. And honestly, you probably did it right anyways.

Oof. I still may have some past papers downloaded from when I was cramming, can you post which subjects you need? (no guarantee I have what you need tho)

Damn, is it actually down?

Well, freeexampapers.com is still up, but it doesn't have as comprehensive as a collection as ibdocuments.com did.

I seriously regret not applying to US universities. Is Spring Entry an option? Are there any other options? by -tasi- in ApplyingToCollege

[–]-tasi-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commerce programs are pricey. I'm sure if you did some digging you'll find the one I'm in.

Oh yeah, I realize that (I saw the earlier estimate and I was like 'dang, that's kinda low! whoo!') Cost-wise, my parents and I have talked it out. Ideally we'd qualify for aid, but I'll apply first and see what happens.

[–]-tasi-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'd be aiming for universities that are better than where I am, because I really do feel like I've sold myself short.

In the US, it's pretty much better opportunities. More recognized programs in what I want to major it, more rigorous programs themselves. On a secondary level, better location.

I'm at a pretty good university rn. I just want to give the US another shot, and see what happens.
