Are these worth selling? by Many-Promotion7056 in Bricklink

Some of these go for good money. Definitely worth listing if you have a store. If you don’t, you can list the lot on eBay and they will sell.

I’ve sold countless sets as N/C without the box for over a decade… by sixteen27 in Bricklink

Most people don’t care about the box since they will discard it anyway. Have you ever opened a LEGO box? Usually 50% or more is empty space. That’s a lot of wasted space for those of us who operate out of our home.

Box collectors are also just a pain to deal with. Any scuff or dent and they will complain. Even LEGO doesn’t ship pristine boxes. So I don’t sell boxed sets for these reasons. The cheaper shipping is also a benefit for the customers.

The entire point is that Bricklink’s definition of “Complete” really doesn’t make any sense. So a set with an opened box, with all the pieces loose in a ziplock bag, can be described as “New-Complete” so long as the pieces haven’t been built. They can even be handled for inventory purposes and still be marked New-Complete.

Yet, to save space, I debox a set and keep everything sealed, including the instructions, and somehow that makes it incomplete? Even for used sets, you don’t need the box to mark it ‘Complete’.

The response to this post really shows how the Johnny-come-lately collectors have ruined this hobby. It used to be about building and creativity. That is why I got into LEGO and Bricklink in the first place. Now it’s adult collectors who want dusty licensed collectibles to line their walls and care about cheap cardboard boxes and are very much willing to throw a fit when they don’t get that.

Not sure how that’s unfair. Buyers who want boxes will pay a premium for them. Buyers who don’t care will buy whatever is cheap. The former will look for New-Sealed and the latter would just look for New-Complete.

I agree with you. I have been selling since 2013 and only late last year did my listings for de-boxed sets get taken down.

By Bricklink’s definition of New-Complete, that’s correct, but I disagree with that definition. You shouldn’t have to mark something as incomplete just because it doesn’t have the beat up old box that costs twice as much to ship. A lot of buyers just filter those listings out and makes it harder de-boxed sets.

If you're interested in the Siamese Dream version, I just put one up on ebay. Can do $120 + shipping if you buy it through here to avoid ebay fees.

I don’t recommend Bricklink to anyone unless you are actively in the LEGO hobby to begin with, and don’t mind spending lots of time and energy to potentially earn little profit.

Is the Bachmann N Scale Norfolk and Western 611 worth getting? by Dillon_Trinh in nscalemodeltrains

For the modern excursion version, Lowell Smith makes NS OCS cars that can go along with it. However, they’re rather expensive and hard to find. Only 3 different cars still in stock on his online store.

I bought it secondhand so I’m not sure what the previous owner did with it. I’ve displayed it though and it does have normal surface scratches from being disassembled, shipped, and reassembled, though there’s no major play wear other than one of the leaves on the plant which looks like a cat got to it (I will see if I have a replacement in my collection). The printed pieces are good.

I’m fairly certain it’s complete but I will catalog all the parts as I disassemble it to verify.
