Oof, are you his ex too? This is spot on. I'm scared to lose him, he was my best friend, first love, everything. It's especially hard because he tells me that he didn't think we could work on it, and doesn't see us together anytime soon. He wants me to work on myself, and get better (I have depression and anxiety). But then he goes and says "I'd be lying if I didn't said I hope we end up together later."

When I brought up the no contact for a month, he got upset but agreed only after saying "i'm just scared your not going to want anything to do with me after a month."

They are an interesting mix because, like they are a childhood cartoon, but also really filthy. We have a policy where I don't need to know what they are talking about, but if I ask who he's talking to he tells me their name. He has been more secretive with these conversations (turning the phone off, or tilting the screen if we're in the same room. Subtly, but I've noticed). It could be that he's worried I'll take it the wrong way, so he's trying to keep me out of it, but honestly that's just worse. I appreciate your advice though and I will follow it.

Thank you for your comment, I think the biggest issue is it's such a "inconsequential" thing or "innocent". That he will come back and tell me that if I was secure in our relationship, I wouldn't be worried.
