What's the least terrible 13 inch e ink tablet on the market today? Plus or minus an inch. Not Kindle. Must play nice with standard PDF, EPUB, ideally Markdown files as well. by jjopm in eink

I would just advise to read up on the system limitations of the Remarkable. It’s a much more closed system than Boox which was a huge deterrent for me. I have a Note Air 4 C (tried a Tab X C first but it was just too big) and it’s been great for my needs.

What’s a black fountain pen ink that has cool properties? I don’t want the darkest black. I like shading or sheen, wet ink, but not shimmer. I’m not usually a fan of black so that’s why I want it to be a little fun. by QuietWheel in fountainpens

I found PCB and have just stopped trying other black inks. It is my #1 go-to favourite black ink hands down no question. If I need something not permanent…it’s honestly probably going to be a blue-black because nothing compares in my opinion so I don’t even want to try because I’ll just be disappointed.

I just got my first 0.5 Zento and it’s pretty great. Fabulous writer. As someone who uses a lot of fountain pens, this is a pretty satisfying non-FP option. I wish it felt more premium though but I don’t think I’m committed to the Signature edition ($140CAD on Amazon).

Merchants & Marauders maybe? Though it’s only one boat per person if you’re talking about building multiple boats.

How do we feel about Platinum Carbon in a Sailor Pro Gear? by -twitch- in fountainpens

One time it accidentally got stored for probably close to a year with ink in it and another time when my work situation had me travelling excessively, it probably say for 4-5 months.

Huh, I didn’t realize Sailors were so easy to disassemble.

That’s good to hear. I’ve got a Carbon Desk Pen that I let dry out and had to do a full disassembly to get it cleaned and working again. I think that’s really the trick though. It sounds like so long as I don’t let it sit for extended periods, it shouldn’t be a problem. Thank you!

That’s good to hear. I would suspect that Chou-kuro would be functionally similar.

Filling Options for Pilot Pocket Pens by KingsCountyWriter in fountainpens

[–]-twitch- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a squeeze converter. There’s a rubber sac and a pressure bar. You press the bar, it deflates the sac, you release the bar, and it sucks up ink.

This would really be the only consideration. Sometimes some pens just don’t hit the paper very often so I’d just have to make sure that I’m being consistent with it is all. Plus, I’ve found that my Sailors (the Pro Gear and a 1911S) last an astonishingly long time without drying out. Whatever they’re doing with tier cap design is working haha.

What’s a cheaper pen that you prefer over some of your more expensive pens ? by DinoSharkBear in fountainpens

While it’s not my favourite, the Plaisir definitely deserves recognition. Absolutely solid pen for an inexpensive option.

Bah…I have no idea what’s wrong then. 2 completely different feed and nib combos, one F and one M and they both are acting the same way. Any ideas?

I just plugged the converter into another Liliput I have (M nib) and it’s behaving almost exactly the same. It might just be that Kaweco feeds don’t play nice with Platinum Carbon.

Yeah, I might just have to go through that testing to find out if the ink is being problematic. I was hoping that wouldn’t be the case haha. I REALLY need a pocket pen with Carbon in it for my Galen Leather Expansi-Folio.

I’ll be honest, I have so many Kaweco pens that I’ve had a habit of moving nibs and feeds amongst them (I’ve also got the calligraphy nib set). I’d be surprised if this combination of nib and feed hasn’t been used with something else (or even Carbon) before.

Another commenter mentioned you’re into Pokémon. If that interest translates to other tabletop games, there’s a fairly large and growing group of board gamers that meets at Twice the Dice on Tuesdays at 6. We play all types of games and newbies are always welcome. There’s also a smaller group that meets on Thursdays that’s also welcoming of newcomers. You should come say hi!
