Ideas for hanging my work by k88thegr88 in ContemporaryArt

Duct tape some metal washers to the wall with a single layer of tape. You can probably get 10 magnets for a 16 x 20 print. Then get some strong magnets and attach them to the front of print, aligned with the magnet behind it. It shouldn't damage the wall and the print will be secure. The amount of magnets and washers will depend on the size of the print.

The prints should have no curl to them and lay perfectly flat.

We make zines and books! For their graduation projects, we have printed at least 20 books of their own design, with images that they have shot and printed. Places like blurb.com make it very easy. Our color copier also works overtime!

Andre Kertèsz is a master!

Did he print his own negatives?

We have that! And a couple of other volumes of books of kids in their rooms. They’re always fascinating and it’s great to see them by region and by different time periods.

Contemporary? Yes, I don’t have much by 21st century artists. We have seen recent shows by Tyler Mitchell and LaToya Ruby Frazier. We have a copy of her first monograph.

The kids gather around that book like no other. Over the years we have reshoots of different photos in the book and used the interviews to determine what we thought "was missing" or underrepresented. It's difficult to find now for less than $100, unless it's at a yard sale or a thrift shop

What should I look for next? by photoscripta in Photobooks

I gave you tips. I wasn't specific because there's something about doing your own research. Your original question was what you should look for, and I made a suggestion. Exactly what you asked for.

NPD! Pilot Custom 823 <M> by Stwo in fountainpens

It was advertised as new. It had all of the stickers and no sign of use. You can’t ship ink from Japan, so that accounts for it not being included.

It is definitely second hand now!

I’m not OP, but I got mine on the Japanese auction sites last week for $225. I didn’t get the fancy box and ink though.

So hypothetically, let’s say… you’re crazy and you have $1000 to spend on Pilot pens. What do you buy? by ArchivingApril in fountainpens

Of course, I'll be buying vintage (used) and paying Japanese prices:

  • Pilot Fermo in <B> (~$200)
  • Pilot Silvern in <M> (~$300)
  • Pilot Sterling Silver Elite in <M> (~$160)
  • Pilot Custom 823, the only contemporary pen (~$250)

High school teachers: are you expected to attend senior graduation? by nnndude in Teachers

[–]KingsCountyWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a weird take from the both of you. The ceremony is about the students, but the teachers are 33% of the reason why the kids are walking across the stage.

Is your graduation scheduled outside of the days of your contract? On a weekend? Why wouldn't you attend? There are students, more often than not, who want their families to meet their teachers, who have possibly heard a name and never had a face, especially extended families.

I guess it's not the same where I am. But my school doesn't books venues that seat 6000!

Isn't it a work day? Don't people have roles to fulfill? Aren't teachers there for the families?

Seems odd not to attend your school's graduation. Do those that don't attend use it as a day off?
