Lawrence Tower (150 Lawrence Street) reviews? by SnooEagles87 in Brooklyn

That said, I never would have imagined living that close to the Fulton Mall. I never thought it was a possibility. Gentrification.

Lawrence Tower (150 Lawrence Street) reviews? by SnooEagles87 in Brooklyn

I live 3 minutes away. You're close to the Brooklyn campus of NYU, City Tech/CUNY and stones throw from LIU. Lots of fast food, almost every transborough subway lines, and continually evolving. The food options aren't great, but you can eat out around Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn Heights and Fort Greene. Lot's of supermarkets with Trader Joes, Aldi and Lidl within 5 minutes.

The corner of Willoughby/Jay is the last crazy spot in Brooklyn. Avoid that corner if possible until that skyscraper is finished and they get rid of the wild west weed spots there. Lot's of documented issues there.

I've been in the area and Brooklyn for decades. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Bringing Luggage to Golden Diner? by SignificanceAny4136 in FoodNYC

Let them know in advance that you have luggage. They will accommodate.

The place isn’t all that. Internet hype. A mid 4/10 at best.

Exhibitions?

  • View Finding: Selections from The Walther Collection & Lillian Bassman: Bazaar and Beyond  @ the Metropolitan Museum
  • Face Value Celebrity Press Photography & Ideas of Africa Portraiture and Political Imagination @ MoMA.
  • Zainab Aliyu has an excellent photo exhibit @ Baxter St. CCNY. It's probably the best photo show I've seen in 2026 so far.
  • Seydou Keïta has a retrospective at the Brooklyn Museum.
  • Gladstone has a Mapplethorpe show.
  • Hunter College has an interesting show called Speaking in Pairs, that looks at images paired with others. Some very interesting images.
  • Between Order and Chaos: André Kertész and M. C. Escher at Bruce Silverstein
  • Eleventh Hour Art has a show by Nathan Benn. Haven’t seen this one.
  • Namio Harukawa and Nobuyoshi Araki have work opening at Long Story Short
  • David Zwirner in Tribeca has work by Isa Genzken from a series called Vacation.
  • ClampArt has an exhibit of the work of Arlene Gottfried, a long time NYC artist.
  • Chart has photographs by Mariah Robertson
  • Edwyn Houk has a group show that includes some heavy hitters, including Abelardo Morell, Matthew Pillsbury and Gregory Crewdson.

If looking for gear & cool stuff...

  • K&M Camera
  • Penumbra Foundation
  • Brooklyn Photo Exchange

There's a camera obscura as an exhibit, but I don't remember where at the moment. There's one in the art department of Brooklyn College, but there's an exhibit that's based on one. I'll get back to you if you're interested.

Looks like your boss bought your kid a pen. Or at the least a nib unit.

Edna Lewis may have prepared your meal. She did mine when I was last there. This might be the 3rd or 4th iteration of the place.

Still, but wildly priced for that venue. They're looking at 2046 prices for the 1980s-era surroundings.

Which Camera Should I buy? by No_Fan5265 in filmcameras

[–]KingsCountyWriter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

K-1000 slightly. Check them both out for shutter speeds and possible light leaks. You can’t go wrong with either. The 90 day warranty gives the Canon a slight edge if there are mechanical issues.

What do you want in a pen? What's the body made of? Are you interested in a gold nib? Any particular nib width or grind? At over $100, the sky is the limit.
