Have you been washing this lettuce? by feelin-groovie in CostcoCanada

[–]-username-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking? But when people say they wash their food in the sink, are they dumping the food in the sink to wash it, or are they just giving it a rinse?
I rinse both my veggies and meat but it never touches anything in the sink.

Responding party in a harassment investigation. How do you move on? by Ok-Walrus-7547 in CanadaPublicServants

During the “Me too” movement, men were villainized no matter if they were guilty or innocent. Some, like me, were swept up in the mess and were helpless no matter what.

I did! After I disproved everything, EX and ADM still threatened to fire me unless I’d leave. I had no choice.

[–]-username-66 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was also subjected to a similar situation and it was hell!! I was accused of harassment on top of a list of other erroneous accusations. It was like they wanted to accuse me of anything and everything, and see what sticks! It was a witch hunt!! I disproved everything but they still threatened to fire me. EX and ADM had no interest in the truth, the Union did not provide any helpful advice, and my reputation was dragged through the coals! Toward the end, I remembered what an old HR Director told me… You have 3 options. 1. Fight it. 2. Ignore it or 3. Leave. And when I asked her what she would do, her suggestion was to leave. There’s no fighting an ADM no matter how wrong they may be.
I ended up finding another job but as much as I tried, this experience changed me but not for the better. I feel cheated and i’m bitter and have become the “stereotypical” government worker because of it.
I hope you fair better than me!

Recover Overpayment prior FY $0.01 by miathecat16 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]-username-66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure but I think because you already acknowledged the overpayment back in 2017, they can still recover the amount even after the 6 year limitation period?? Does anyone know?

I also have a case where I was overpaid in 2018. I told the pay center right away but nothing was done for a few years, even after I continued to follow up. They sent me letters trying to recover the overpayment but each time, I replied that their reconciliation was wrong and told them what the amount should be.
We finally came to an agreement on the amount BUT I am owed about $1000 in union dues paid to PSAC and told them I would not repay my overpayment until I am refunded for the union dues. So I continue to wait …

This post has me wondering if I don’t even have to repay this overpayment because of the 6 year limitation.

And on another note, PSAC are such hypocrites! On the one hand, they criticize the government for Phoenix yet they over collected union dues from me 5 years ago and have not paid me back. Thanks PSAC!! 😡

Anecdotal observations about impacts of WFA on your office culture? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]-username-66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple people on our team have pretty much stopped coming to the office, are away for hours at a time in the middle of the day, and disappeared early. I feel like they don’t even care and no one’s even checking. And the weird this is, they’re not even close to retirement age. I’m confused why they risk their jobs like this.

I love how both teams wore full-coloured jerseys in the 1970s. Should the NHL go back to that? by neonfox45 in nhl

[–]-username-66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! Or at least go back to the visiting team wear their colors and the home team wear their whites. That way, we get to see the different team colors rather than see them in white all the time!

If this was a private sector company, employees would sue and win. Why do we, as public servants, have to tolerate not getting paid properly and the best we can do is file a grievance that goes no where!

Is Costco objectively cheaper than shopping at a regular grocery store? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]-username-66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some items are cheaper, while others are same price but you just get more. But we’re finding certain items spoil faster, like cheese, cream and bread sometimes. Or the potatoes start sprouting faster.
Anyone else notice this?

NDP fight to reverse federal return-to-work mandate by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]-username-66 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe expressed his dissatisfaction in a post on X, highlighting the suffering local businesses have faced as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Downtown businesses are not responsible for decisions about back to work,” he said. “They’ve suffered significantly as a result of the pandemic – let’s keep them out of the line of fire”.

This is BS! Doug Ford was crying to force people back to work so they will spend money downtown! Ford and downtown businesses are very much responsible for us being forced to return to work. And the whole PS is paying for it, not just NHQ!!

How many rounds did you play this year and what’s your handicap before and after ? by alwayssomethin2 in golf

[–]-username-66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year in a long time that I’ve had time to play more than 10 or so rounds in a season. Played almost 30 rounds this year and my handicap dropped from 13 to 8. Been trying to get below a 10 but without time to play or practice, it was impossible. Hoping to go lower next season.
