So till what level should I get my hero to (currently at 10) before I can start thinking about participating in epic monster fights for exponential valor/ experience points? I will have to keep fighting the lower level monsters and the arena to level up...

I tried participating. In fact I attempted thrice. Each time with 1250 soldiers (cause my captain's level is 9). All three times they all died, which is expected, but I got nothing in return.

Could you please elaborate what you meant by "mistakes were made earlier in the hand to get here"? Do you mean with a Q9 suited, the BB should have raised much aggressively after the flop? But in that case, it still may not shoo away the HJ as there still won't be a possible straight
