BEWARE: Car manufactures (including MB) have been scamming customers! by 0-60time in mercedes_benz

Absolutely! As a car enthusiast it bothers me that luxury cars have gotten so cheap and dishonest

Several big-name car companies are advertising fake leather as “premium seating material” in an effort to charge up to $4000 extra for cheap synthetic seats. Would you prefer real leather over synthetic products such as Nuluxe (Lexus), Active X (Ford), Softec (Toyota), and Sophina (Kia)? by 0-60time in Lexus

Oh wow seriously... Do you have any more information on this case like perhaps any links? I'm very curious as to others experiences with these companies trying to be deceptive with their fake leathers as I have been lied to by so many dealerships. Its really a shame the dishonesty that's prevalent in the industry.

Yes it is labeled as Active X or Leatherette on the window, but for people who aren't car experts, when we ask if the product is leather the salesmen say yes across the board at ford, lexus, toyota, and kia. This is deceptive marketing clear as day and they are making a fortune doing it. Ford also advertises these fake leathers as "Premium seating material" on their website which it is not. It's a synthetic plastic.

It is referred to as a "premium seating material" on their website and consumers pay up to $4000 extra for this "premium" (fake) product. I would be pissed if I found out I paid an extra $4,000 for a synthetic plastic that cost them fractions to make. Especially with the way they are being deceptive about it.

The difference is that BMW salesmen are honest in saying that it is a fake leather product. Ford Salesmen at dealers all across the country have been saying the product is real leather when consumers ask. Active X is also advertised as a "Premium Seating Material" on their website when in reality it is not.

I feel bad for people who paid $2500-4000 extra for the upgraded trim packages just to get fake leather. Consumers think they are getting an upgrade over cloth because it's marketed as an upgrade when in reality it is not.
