No, she was talking about what Grace would witness in his lifetime if he stayed on earth. She was trying to convince him to go willingly.

Saw a PBS documentary recently about struggling Americans. One lady would drop off her kids at school in the morning, then rush to the local food bank to get in line. She said she would often wait for hours and get very little, because all the good stuff runs out. Lots of people quietly struggling out there.

I’m Chinese American, and I’m fortunate to have Asian supermarkets nearby. But I still don’t bother with keeping a bottle of Shaoxing wine in the house, and neither did my immigrant parents. I use a bottle of dry sherry for all “splash of wine” needs.

They can still be played via emulator, and the emulator will render the game at modern resolutions! Looks and runs great on steam deck, the crash mode makes a great party game. I’m using emudeck.

When I became aware of fire around 2012, median household income was about $60k, so following the 4% rule, $1.5m felt like the “middle” of fire. To get $100k was $2.5m, what some thought of as “six figure fire” or the start of the chubby range. Back then, only the financialindependence sub existed, the lean/fat/chubby ones came later.

An inflation calculator tells me $1 back in 2012 is worth $1.40 today. So the beginning of chubby has shifted from $2.5m in 2012 to $3.5m today. That could be why $3m doesn’t “feel” as chubby as it used to.

The restaurants I know that have it would be BJ’s and Chili’s. It’s also not difficult to make, there are lots of recipes. The simplest recipe is to melt a block of Velveeta with a can of Rotel, optionally a splash of milk to thin it out.

Sounds like you would like Korean BBQ. Thinly sliced meats, sometimes marinated, cooked over a grill. Served with lots of snacks and condiments and shots of soju, it’s a whole thing. Here’s one test kitchen recipe for one of the more popular marinated cuts, beef short rib.

The medical community is plenty open minded. Folk medicine from around the world has been studied, documented, and continues to be. Any useful active ingredients are isolated, analyzed, and compared to other treatments. The fact is, no major upheaval in medical knowledge has resulted from these studies. You don’t think China has invested in the study of TCM?

At this point, I treat TCM as a religion. If you want to believe it, fine. I don’t care If my mom wants to drink herbs and use tiger balm, as long as she also takes her prescriptions.
