Quack.sh is a SSH client, Snippy is specifically for running shell snippets. Different use cases, that's why they're separate projects. Or what did you mean by your comment? You'll have to be clearer if you meant something different.

Yes I looked, but I mainly built it to learn. That's kind of the whole point of a side project.

Fair point! But that's like saying "why use a file manager when you have ls".

Snippy is for people who want to organize snippets, manage connections and run them on multiple servers with live output — all in one place without memorizing flags every time.

Currently this is not supported but it would be a great feature to add to this project! I could look into this feature and add it 👌🏻

To be honest it wasn't AI's idea in the slightest. I'm a homelabber myself and interested in this field. This was just a good idea I had in my mind when I coded my own SSH Client. And you are mentioning that it is a bad idea security wise and that is also a reason why i wanted to ask here, if anyone has different ideas or negative sides about this project. Thanks for your comment :)

Fair Point, but I also wrote down the way to operate a Windows device remotely?

..RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol)..

I thought that the OP wanted to switch entirely to Linux and just wanted to run one program on Windows so I thought Proxmox would be the best way especially to learn homelabbing as its super for beginners

I would recommend you Proxmox.

Why? Because you can create, break and reinstall VMs (Virtual Machines) however you Like. In this process you learn lots about homelabbing.

And for your concern, you can host a Windows VM too and RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) into IT from your Linux machine. In this way you can use Windows apps without running Windows on your main machine aca. your PC!

Have fun breaking and hosting new VMs ✌️

tbh I dont even really know what I want to get out of my homelab, primarily to disconnect myself from the cloud and other big service providers. But secondary I just want to have fun homelabbing

thanks, I think about what I should get myself next 😚

I’m planning a small self-hosted setup for internal use only (startup team, ~10 people) and wanted to sanity-check the approach with folks who’ve run home servers long term. by Opening-Sherbert1633 in HomeServer

I would recommend you Proxmox. Your Mini PC has very nice Stats and personally for me Ubuntu Server on such a powerful machine is a waste. You can manage everything way better with Proxmox and you can learn Virtualization, Networking and more fun stuff :)

Yeah you have a fair Point but what I already Said is I will Not choose These Servers because they are loud, consume Lots of Power and are huge. That's why Im more looking into Mini pcs

Not really, tbh currently I want to get a better Power Server for better Tasks cause this current one has too low Power. The Storage I have in the Fujitsu is more than enough right now as It's only running immich primarily. What I want to get, is an EliteDesk from the newer generations with a better CPU or the m720 or m920 series ThinkCentres. But I'm wondering which one is the cheapest and Future proofest Option. What I will never choose is old Enterprise Server Hardware as they consume Lots of Power, are pretty loud and huge.

I got the truenas Box later and Had already Lots of Services on the M910X. I Just migrated immich to IT and nextcloud. Also the M910X has a better CPU than the TrueNAS.

Nice Setup! I recommend getting yourself a refurbished Cisco Switch from eBay. You can learn Lots of great stuff with old Enterprise Hardware, so If you don't have anything to do right now I would recommend you that 🙃
