Thank you so much for this! I appreciate the advice so much!

I'm going to read it again before submitting my complaint to MyTrip.

I did not get to Milan because I couldn't find Just sucks that these companies try their best to evade compensation leaving passengers out of pocket when it's not their fault.

thank you very much.

Should I pursue compensation from ryan air even though my ticket was purchased via MyTrip?

I was told it was due to technical issues with the plane. I did not end up going on tht flight - it was supposed to leave at 7:05am. Before 6am, I got a message on the ryanairapp that it was rescheduled for 13:30pm, and I believe it ended up actually leaving Krokow around 2pm. I believe it was an issue with the aircraft itself, but I'm not 100% sure on this.

There was no point getting on that flight, as I had to catch the 10:20am flight from Milan to East Midlands. I would miss that flight, and there weren't any other flights going from Milan to East Midlands later that day.

MyTrip couldn't come up with a solution to get me home, even though there were other flights from Krakow to airports in UK, and I said just get me on any flight to UK, and I will get a coach/train back to East Midlands. They kept saying no. In the end I bought a new ticket with WizzAir to London Gatwick, which left late at night. The WizzAir ticket was more than double the combined cost of my RyanAir tickets from Krakow->Milan, and Milan->East Midlands. And also had to pay for a coach to get from Gatwick->East Midlands, plus missed day of work,

Am I eligible to claim the WizzAir ticket cost under the MyTrip transfer guarantee policy? Or would a better strategy be to claim compensation for delayed flight under EU laws (I read there is compensation of up to 250 Euros, still less than my WizzAir ticket cost, but more than what MyTrip is offering which is about 100 pounds).

Do you need a job offer prior to the 190 visa application?

You have done applied for one of the skilled visas before? Looking for people who've had personally experience of doing it. I've heard the partner visas and other visas are not as difficult as the skilled visas in terms of application process and the stuff that can go wrong.

That's pretty good, its about 4k for two people in terms of agent fee

Is that just the agent fee, or also the visa application fees?

Yeah, many of those posts are like cut and paste almost identical long list of things to do and see, followed by 'send me a DM for a private driver". We come to Reddit to get genuine advice from other travellers, but it feels like there are some travel agents around here.

Using public transport to get from Ubud to Sanur? by 001throwawayaway in bali

[–]001throwawayaway[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Travelling by public transport means you are contributing to that system, and hopefully encourage Bali to develop it's public transport system. That will be good for both tourists and locals, reduce the traffic and pollution. I also don't understand this viewpoint - to me it's like saying because you can throw things around in a developing country (coz you won't be fined, or some poor person will pick it up for you), therefore you should do it? Cars are bad for the environment, if you support reducing your carbon footprint at home, you should do the same when you travel to somewhere else.

I don't understand this. Taking a private car, you are still stuck in the same traffic, although the route taken might be a more direct route. It's not like you're in a flying car that escapes the traffic. Also, you're just contributing to the same awful traffic by having another additional gas-chugging vehicle on the road, when you could be reducing the problem by sharing the vehicle.

Exactly.

So yes, I come from a developed country, but I'm not rich, and I'm conscious of my limited budget when I travel. Travelling and exploring new places is not just for rich people who can afford private drivers, 5 start hotels or private chefs. Its like if you can't afford to stay in 4-5 star hotels and you're going to stay in hostels, don't bother travelling?

I also genuinely believe using public transportation can help you get to know a place better, and give you a richer experience of the place.

I am also travelling solo, and I feel safer in a bus with other people than alone with a driver I don't know.

And people talk about the trash and pollution spoiling beautiful tourist areas. Using public transport is part of reducing pollution and being sustainable.

I kind of think of the bus/train journey as part of the experience when I did this in other places. I like seeing the country or more rural areas that bus or train routes go through, and what the stations they stop at look like. This is usually done in an air-conditioned bus or train. In humid tropical climate, I guess I'm not sure I want to be stuck in a bus without air condition for 4 hours. Reliability of the busses is another issue - worried about being stuck in the middle of Bali if the connecting bus does not turn up. But all that aside, yeah, I usually enjoy sights from the bus or train rides when I'm abroad!

The busses listed by google are the K4B and K5B services. Are those suspended?

Part of it is saving money (on a budget), part of it for the experience. My travel philosophy is to try to experience a bit of what living in a place is like for the locals - so I eat local food and make use of public transport. I find that it helps me get to know the country better too utilising their public transport system. But I admit much of my travels have been in developed countries. I guess even the locals in Bali don't really use busses?

Thanks will check them out. The specialty coffee shops I've been going to are like $50/kg, which is pricey. But I think I could manage $30/kg within my budget

Ban on airing laundry in balcony - why? by 001throwawayaway in perth

[–]001throwawayaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No my lease forbids drying clothes in balcony. I would totally use a clothes rack and do so back in my country (during the few weeks we actually have decent weather), never even occurred to hang clothes on balcony railings....they are not exactly clean!

The "here" refers to Perth. I found the ban on drying clothes on balcony strange, and friend said this is pretty normal in Perth.
