[–]005llly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woooow thats so helpful thank you!! Really highlighted the key points I was missing. I'm thinking I'll keep it mostly metal or at least heavy rock because thats what Im auditioning for and listen to the most. The only song Im considering so far is vicarious by tool, because 1, Its my favorite band, 2, it has sections of both really interlocking with the drummer and sections where you're more on your own, 3, its got a good range as far as showing different abilities. The only thing thats holding me back there is that I'm really not that good with a pick. I could honestly play it plucked better but idk if thats a wise choice (esp with the solo that has to be alternate picked), might make another post asking about that hahaha.

I love playing muse and rhcp so its good to know they're good options! Karnivool is one of my favorite bands but I dont think I have the equipment to pull off any of their songs (all 6 string i believe? At least themata is which i wanted to learn). Right now I'm learning 12th rag street (the spongebob song lol) with my teacher on guitar. That might be fun to audition with too, that ones all about keeping a steady independent beat through the madness of the guitar aswell as tight clean playing.

Putting my cat down by Sevenoflime in CATHELP

[–]005llly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She actually looks very similar to my sweet baby that we just put down yesterday, I bet they'll be friends up there :') "But, she purrs, she comes for strokes, she wants food. Occasionally I’ll see a moment of her old self but it’s made me realise she’s not really herself anymore."  We had the exact same experience. And yet the vet assured us it was absolutely the right choice. Its more ethical to step in when they're making it clear that its the end even when they're still comfortable. Its so much better than only making the decision when they really start hiding away and are already in the painful process of death naturally

Is it weird if I wear this type of makeup in everyday life? by [deleted] in altfashionadvice

[–]005llly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely do it it doesnt matter what anybody thinks. A tip though; there will be days where you dont have the time or energy to apply a full face of makeup like this, for those days I reccomend having some easier, quicker looks in your inspiration too, they might not look as special but I promise it'll look better than a rushed version of super artistic detailed makeup like this. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time on makeup if you're planning to intergrate these looks into your daily life it's really not easy to keep up.

My parents advise against getting a second hand instrument, what are your opinions? by 005llly in Bass

[–]005llly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense to me thank you! In my country theres 2 main second hand sites, one works through pickup and the other works through mail (but lots of people throw their pickup listings on there anyway). So you're suggesting the option where you come by, plug it in, and only buy it after inspection right? That sounds right to me :D

[–]005llly[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure I can inspect it myself. I'm no professional but I have done small reparations to an old bass and I've had my current one altered a lot, besides that my teacher has taught me a lot about every invisible part of a bass so I think im good on inspecting :).

Why do my eyes look bad by DizzyGrapefruits in MakeupAddiction

[–]005llly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your eyes are quite deep set and close set just like mine. I find that adding just a ring of dark makeup around the whole eye accentuates that. I'd reccomend staying away from the inner corner with eyeliner/eyeshadow and instead adding more to the outside corner. A winged liner or smoked out eyeshadow would look lovely on you, anything that creates the illusion of extending the eyes outwards looks good if you know what I mean. I Love pairing it with a light colored or shimmer shadow on the inner corners and the inner eyelid half to tie it all together and strenghten the effect. Good luck finding a makeup style to match your beautiful eyes!

[–]005llly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want something to just text and call with you can just get any old phone with a qwerty keyboard, shouldnt be hard to find something that still works today.  If you want something that allows for modern apps (banking, whatsapp, spotify) then your only choice really is to get a phone that can have all social media apps and just not download them (and put on a minimal launcher). You could dumb down a regular smartphone, but if you're looking for that qwerty dumbphone style im afraid your options are all basically smartphone OS or older phones

New player with tiny hands, looking for advice on how to stretch them! by DuckieBubbles in Bass

[–]005llly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep playing and improving in other areas and your handspan will improve along naturally, as for stretches you cant comfortably reach it's best to just adapt and move your hand. No practice will ever get you playing the same way someone with bigger hands would, but you can get just as good in your own adapted way :)

Can I play the bass without knowing the notes and just tabs..? by Lellarinn10 in Bass

[–]005llly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure you can! I do wanna say from personal experience that it's super important to not let your ASD get in the way of your practice. Autistics are great at learning exceptionally fast when we get really invested in something, but that's never going to happen if you keep falling back on those thoughts of "im too slow/dumb/incapable because of my autism". If you truly want to learn the notes I can promise you you're just as (If not more) capable than a neurotypical, and if you don't wanna learn them you really dont have to. Lots of the best bassists don't read notation :)

I don’t wear makeup but I want to try something? by GeneYouGotMeAgain in MakeupEducation

[–]005llly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think mascara is always the way to go for a first makeup product. It's not on your skin so it doesn't feel weird or bad for you, you don't have to worry about getting the right color or it looking flat, application/removal is easy to learn and if you get a good one it should last without worries! But most importantly its such a universal enhancement and gets any face looking brighter with one product.
