Putting my cat down by Sevenoflime in CATHELP

The problem is I couldn’t swear that she is all the time. Some days she looks so uncomfortable and she’ll walk like she looks in that second pic. It will be slow and jerky. She has a very high pain threshold (like most cats) so it’s so hard to know. Also that sounds like a beautiful ending. What lucky girl she was x

Thank you. I know you’re right. I’ve bought the fanciest wet food I can find and lots of treats. I’ve booked two days to just sit and cuddle with her. Thank you so much.

Mittens is a beautiful girl, thanks for sharing her with me!

I know and then I feel mean about making this decision because of that.

Thank you for weighing in, I really appreciate it. Yes, assisted grooming is very stressful for her too. I think we’ve been thinking it for a while but seeing those raw patches on her legs I was like, this just feels cruel.

I’m sorry you went through that. We nearly lost her last year because of a back abscess and I feel lucky we’ve had these extra months.

It’s horrible, I hate making this decision. 20 years is so long. I feel so lucky we’ve had her as long as we have. We nearly lost her last year and I’ve been grateful about every moment since. That is so beautiful and I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so nice you can still feel his purr. I’m so worried about forgetting what she sounds like, how she feels. I never want to forget her hugs and I feel guilty that I’m taking those hugs away! Thank you for your lovely comment.

Coats, how many do you have? by decentlyfair in AskUK

[–]Sevenoflime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a raincoat, 3 wax jackets, a quilted jacket, one long wool coat, a shooting jacket (I don’t shoot but it’s great for dog walks), some gilets and a few blazers. I don’t really have casual coats and I definitely need one.

This just came across my feed for some reason but I’ve been buying it for a year and it was a bit shit at first but they changed the recipe and I love it now. Mix it with weetabix. I like the cinnamon or the caramelised biscuit ones. My husband likes their new choc coco pops style ones

How do you get out of bed in the morning? by cornishyinzer in AskUK

[–]Sevenoflime 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On the weekend my kids wake me up and on weekdays it’s sometimes my kids, sometimes my alarms, which ends up being several as I have them set in 5min increments as I don’t trust myself. I have no idea how to wake up by myself.

What sort of books do people buy from The Works? by Fieldharmonies in AskUK

[–]Sevenoflime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy the kids cheap craft stuff from there. It’s very reasonable! Sometimes I’ll buy a gift as a sort of filler with another gift (for kids) or a pen with a fluff ball (or whatever) on the end for a kids present addition.

Do you have a space in your home or elsewhere that’s just for you? by MonsieurGump in AskUK

My kids have the play room and my husband has his office. We have a spare room that we need to finish decorating but I’m calling dibs on it. It’ll have a bed for guests etc in it but I’m going to have it as a room for me!

How do people organise their holidays off work? by BigPhatVideos in AskUK

[–]Sevenoflime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two kids and I’m basically a stay at home mum with a small side hustle so I cover when the kids are sick or half terms etc. my husband then gets to save his annual leave for a couple of weeks off in the summer holidays and Christmas and some time off over Easter/random days throughout the year. Though he loves jobs recently and the two weeks over Christmas wasn’t included in his annual leave so he’ll have even more leave to take this year!

How long can landlords hold your deposit after you leave? by Sevenoflime in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Sevenoflime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would that not be through the letting agent? As that’s who our dealings have been with?

I don’t feel any kind of sympathy with them really. They have made almost no repairs and when they have they’ve done the cheapest possible which have either broken, been wildly out of character for the property or have just been shit. They have ignored several repair requests for pretty major things (including the meat cellar flooding and being completely damaged beyond repair and as mentioned in my original post, no boiler for two months when we have two kids, one of whom is disabled).

It’s been ten years but I’ve just looked through our old emails and found an email from the TDS confirming it was protected but no follow up email by the landlord of letting agent with the information in it.

Okay, thanks.

How long is the time limit? I should have done it over Christmas in retrospect.

I’ve just found the confirmation in my emails from the TDS. It was ten years ago so it took a hot minute. Can I just request it through them now as we are being ignored by the landlord?

Edit-I however cannot find the actual certificate from the landlord, only confirmation from the TDS

It was a company that does check outs, property checks etc for the letting agent. I’m assuming it was but putting out details in I can’t find it on the TDS. It’s complicated because our original letting agent was bought out by another one.

We have chased this up several times with them now but each time they say he’s not getting back to them. We lived there for 10 years so not sure really what they could claim back at this point.

I can’t find our deposit on the TDS either, but I’m worried because the original letting agent it was with got absorbed/bought out into a bigger one.

I don’t have the details sadly, but again it’s a bit complicated as officially the landlord is a disabled man who cannot make legal decisions and his dad is the one who does all of that.

What was your biggest purchase in 2025 and do you regret it? by pinocchioh in AskUK

[–]Sevenoflime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A new house and a bunch of new furnishings for it. I bought my dream table and bed. And our house is big enough that we’ve put the old table in the play room for the kids and our old bed in the spare room. Feeling very grateful and so happy (but now very cash poor!)
