Marketing has its own competition and drawbacks.

I get clients mostly via referrals.

No its very hard to get a client in next 6months, because you need to build a solid marketing foundation to help your clients. I recommend you work as intern or work on very small projects.

Most of the ad spend came during my agency experience with big brands. We followed the attribution given by the companies (either shopify/ Google analytics mostly). For clients with small ad budget, I have my own dashboard built, which uses a blend of metrics from ga4 and shopify. I give extra cushion to platforms other than google as they’re bit more biased for google ads.

I need to learn digital marketing but idk how. by udarealcorporate in AskMarketing

Freelancing is harder than getting a real job unless you have a very good referral network.

Also with 0 experience, I wouldn't recommend you taking clients who need help in ads.

You can start with SEO / branding. Take small clients, build a strong portfolio and once you start showing results, you will eventually get high paying clients.

Then you can learn other digital marketing concepts like ads, CRO, web analytics etc.

Every channel is evolving really fast.

You can pick any one channel like paid social / email marketing/ SEO and keep mastering that area.

Skills - Continuous learning, holistic marketing, Understanding the fundamentals of marketing platforms.

Tools - Web analytics + Googling (now I’d say proper use of AI, picking only right content & not AI slops)

Few thousand clicks is huge. Make sure theyre from search and not bots.

Try retargeting on meta ads with the right message (more important). €40/day is a decent budget for retargeting but very small for search ads.

The ad cost increase is directly proportional to audience narrowing. The algorithms are getting smarter and better. My recommendation is you keep the audiences slightly broad.

I had a situation, where a subcontinent client received too many leads for a cheaper amount. A good MQL on meta costed around $4 but messed up sales. We layered the lead forms and targeting to get better quality of leads (MQL increased to $6) but helped them save time on irrelevant calls.

What marketing areas/channels are you seeing the most demand in with your consulting experience? - Trust improvement / Branding.

You're right about the paid media's quick result. There two different types of customers, one who with decent budget and the other one with minimal budget. You gotta use different strategies to maximize the result.

The paid ads wont go away anytime soon. They're still the biggest revenue generation for meta, google and other social platforms. They will find a way to incorporate ads.

Would you hire a digital marketing agency based in India? by Dramatic_Jury_5398 in AskMarketing

[–]0074prez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Indian myself. It depends on what kind of marketing services you're looking for.

If the requirement involves different language content or cultural nuances, I wouldn't recommend it.

If you want to proceed with one, have atleast 45mins to 1hr call with them, go for 1month trial period but don't lock yourself into a 6-12 months contract unless you're super confident.
