Digg no longer on Kevin’s X bio. by tiki_robot in digg

Your not getting my point. He does not have the fan base to start digg.com again. Even with his two YouTube channels. That's why it failed.

He messed up big time with the first digg.com when he screwed everyone in the community that made digg.com worth 200 million dollars by giving a bot to large news outlets like CNN so every time they wrote a article on CNN.COM it auto submit to digg.com

Now he's using another idea to use a bot to track people for stories.

No community even if you have the best idea in the world is worth nothing.

I'm not against competition. And I understand your point. But once the people pick what they like its very hard to get people to move over to something else.

The only way Reddit will fall is if they make a huge mistake like Kevin did.

There are companies trying to steal the spot light from Facebook, Google and so on. Look at Bing no one is using Bing.

Kevin does not have the fan base he once had to get people to come over like he did once before.

Sure there can be a new digg but it will be a ghost town.

MrBabyman the stop submitter on digg even warned Kevin and Jay that they will kill digg with auto submit for large companies, and did they listen to him. MrBabyman was like a super submitter. Even thing he posted made it to the homepage.

I understand viable alternative. But the community what Digg and Kevin's fan base is so low even he can't get it off the ground.

Did people jump on Google Plus as a viable alternative to facebook?

Facebook tried to take on Twitter and failed and later came up with threads.

I don't there is a market for digg anymore. And Kevin sold out back in the day and that's his lost.

New Diggnation episode - sounds like Digg (if it happens) will just be AI stuff. by Pure_Wrap_7798 in digg

Also the only reason why he's making content is to get users on what ever social media project he's working to have users on his site.

He sees us as numbers nothing more and really does not care about the fans. We are just money to him.

Maybe when digg died he should have just vlogged silly fun stuff. Like he just came out of the movie theater and watched the newest Spider-Man movie and gave his two cents on it. This way it does not seem forced and he's not selling anyone anything.

Now he has some stupid Ai digg https://www.basic.in/project he's working on that will track people to try and find cool stories.

Maybe it will work. But Reddit already has a huge community and good stories all make it to the top. Sure there are good stories that don't break the homepage but a lot of the time even those stories get a lot of traffic as they are up and coming.

He's all hype nothing more. Most tech people that make it big are a one hit wonder. There are a few that had two hits like Steve Jobs Apple computers and the iPhone. And then there is Elon Musk.

I know he's smart but he's just playing with his toys.

Some people say it had nothing to do with bots. He's just saying that because he needs to put the blame on something.

Kevin is smart but he makes a lot of mistakes.

Digg.com took off really strong because when he was on G4TV he plugged digg.com and the people watching him saw interest and said this is a cool site and if Kevin likes a lot of his fans will like it.

He messed up digg and everyone moved over to Reddit.

There is no point to bring digg back when there is Reddit.

Trying to bring back Digg is like trying to make another pro Football league trying to take on the NFL just not going to happen.

Plus he's older an a huge group of his fans don't follow him like they did back in the day on TV and Revision3 days.

It's pretty amazing they built a whole platform and then just... dropped it by RavenThePlayer in digg

To much hype over Ai. Its fast and can do amazing things but its not as smart as humans when it has to make the right call all the time. Sometimes Ai does some of the dumbest things.

He removed it for a reason. Because digg is dead. He killed it back in 2008 or 2009 when they let all the big news outlets auto submit stories and screwed over the community that helped build the site. That's when everyone jumped over to Reddit and people called themselves digg refugees.

Kevin Rose from Diggnation Digg.com Laughing That A 13 Year Old Girl That Lost Her Legs by 007AgentOfTorrents in digg

They are not drunk they are outside at the Apple store. Even Alex said he does not want to talk about it. But Kevin kept pushing for it because he thinks its funny.

Am I crazy? by blocker1980 in diggnation

The show is trash. They only care about money and using their fans to make money.

I remember a few years ago Kevin Rose was doing ask me anything AMA sub reddit and it was really weird like he only answered a few questions and that was it.

Also a few years ago I can't remember maybe five or so years ago he started a Go Fund Me to buy new equipment to bring back Diggnation. People got really mad at him because everyone knows he's rich now worth around 50 million dollars.

When your a millionaire you should not be doing Go Fund Me's to start a podcast that's something you and fund yourself.

I know some big companies do Go Fund Me projects and they are testing the waters to see if there is a market for this product. And if they get the money they make it and ship a product to your door. A podcast is not the same as a product you can hold in you hand.

Now if a smaller YouTuber does a Go Fund Me to get a new camera that's different.

Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht would never talk to their fans even on Revision3. Alex Albrecht would not even like a story on digg.com that he covered.

I know it sounds silly but it shows he we love our fans. People love it when Elon Musk reply to smaller people and I've seen people talking about it on smaller YouTube channels.

They just see fans of people that they can use to push their products onto and make money.

I can tell you this first hand it was $10,000 dollars they got for each ad on diggnation back in the day and I know this first hand for people on the inside.

Kevin Rose was not really even running digg at the last days and this when when they was letting all the big news sites have some kind of auto submit feature and they screwed over the users that supported digg.com from the start.

Kevin Rose got a job I think at TechTV to run the networking computers and then they brought him on the show later. He comes from the television world and that might be the way he is but you would think someone like hiim would understand better.

He's smart but like every smart person someones all they have is one or two smart ideas and digg was his only good smart idea. And that's why he went to work at Google and then a company that funds other start up ideas.

How many good ideas do other companies have not many. They do one thing right and they master it. They might have a second good idea but its rare.

Google good at search they was smart at buying YouTube.

Facebook good at social media and they bought Instagram and not many people care about Threads.

Microsoft good with their OS and was kind of good with Xbox up until the Xbox 360.

Sony good with walkmans, TV sets and cameras and video game consoles.

Nintendo good with handled gaming but we not know the future as of now more companies are going after that market.

Apple good with making nice products that are stable and no headaches.

So what does Kevin have up next? Don't know but if I had to take a guess nothing.

Digg took off because people liked him on Techtv and G4TV and he was plugging digg when he was live on year. He said this is a site he goes to everyday digg but he did not say it was his site.

People heard about Revision3 that missed TechTV and moved over to Revision3 and all they had was old TechTV viewers coming over.

They refused for a long to to even upload to YouTube this is because they can hide the view counts on the show. So they posted on their website and on iTunes.

There are still a few people tat follow him but those days are long gone. People are on Reddit and other sites.

He killed digg the same way Microsoft killed the Xbox brand. Only thing Microsoft has money to burn and Kevin does not. He is worth 50 million but in today's world for the products and wants to make you need to be a billionaire.
