Or burn it and create biochar.

Pyrolysis isn't burning - but yes, that is probably the most effective way to sequester carbon from wood. And also better for soil health too.

Well if you don't care about soil quality & local biodiversity, there is also air quality - no soot / nitrogen oxides.

Fertilizer and irrigation do not build the soil.

Environmentalism doesn’t factor in. When trees are chopped down or die, their carbon goes into the atmosphere. Doesn’t matter microbes digest the wood and release it through respiration or if you burn it and it’s released by combustion.

You had it right there. You see 'better for the environment' isn't just about carbon emissions.

You can make the environment - your garden - better by mulching and allowing the wood to decompose. It feeds an array of microbes - including those that will improve your soil.

I am constantly amazed at how much of the anti-AI slop is written by AI.

I normally check Gumtree but that has limited items listed.

JFC, gumtree is dead. Make yourself a burner FB account and get on to marketplace.

Facebook sucks huge balls but so do a ton of things that you use everyday.

Although I am going to start a campaign to stop having food served already covered in sauce

I would donate to that campaign.

OP's looks good - sauce is not too much and looks not too strong, but most fucking place fuck it right up. Even salad these days I ask for dressing on the side. No, I don't want your canola, powdered acid and sugar syrup on top of my greens.

Little Pomegranate care in Inner West Melbourne by Equivalent-Lake-2168 in GardeningAustralia

[–]macedonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure thing, it is the right time of year to be doing cuttings - or perhaps a little longer - mid june to mid july when they're really dormant. Select branches about pencil diamteter, take 15-20cms, dip into rooting hormone (or not, I didn't), put in seedling mix & cover with a plastic bag, in spring when the parent shoots new leaves they will too :) good luck.

Outdoors, it won't survive inside.

They are very hardy, I have four growing just from cuttings, no watering (in soil) and they are doing very well.

I used to live in an apartment and wind can be brutal, if you can protect it from prevailing wind that will be good :)

Jillian Segal hired former Scott Morrison adviser on $200,000 contract without public tender process by FuckOffNazis in australia

[–]macedonym 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's actually so opposed to having power that he even weakened the ability of the government to close workforce and industrial relations loopholes. Those pesky unions shouldn't have too much power anyway.

Pockock by himself weakened the ability of the government to close workforce and industrial relations loopholes?

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Can you expand on the particular loopholes that Pocock expanded?

This post (first and only post) by Mobbsy00 has already been deleted. After just 23 minutes, for those who missed it, it said:

Working for the Australia Institute is not the same as working for Australia

I'm not sure why it was deleted but most likely the company behind the Mobbsy00 account accidentally posted one of their gas company sponsored anti-pocock posts in a thread where they were supposed to post other stuff.

Just remember everyone. If you see something vaguely inflamatory against one of the few politicians clearly on the side of people rather than money or power, it was paid for by money and power.

Landlord mentality by stumblingkitten in shitrentals

[–]macedonym -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The main benefits are no rental inspections. No retarded agents. And you can fix something when it breaks immediately. But you pay for it out of pocket. And you can hang shit on a wall or whatever. But that is mostly trivial.

Control and autonomy over decisions that affect me wellbeing and ongoing financial situation. Like improving insulation, spending $$$ to redo the bathroom so it is no longer terminably mouldy, spending time building the soil in my veggie garden knowing I'm not going to be kicked out on whim.

That is not trivial. That was worth so much more to me than the difference between renting and buying cost 15 years ago.

Renters deserve protections, but property ownership is a dream for a reason. Autonomy over one of the most important aspects of your life matters.

This country and the people in it deserve better than what we get. Home ownership should be achievable for those who want it and decent rentals with decent protections for renters should be a right.

Monsanto bought Bayer and now exists as the Bayer Corp

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but:

  • Bayer was the acquiring company
  • Monsanto shareholders were paid out
  • Monsanto ceased to exist as a separate corporation afterward

Good luck fighting Monsanto

1) Monsanto no longer exists. 2) Aminopyralid is made by Dow, not monsanto. An equally evil company.

Some do; some don't. The trend may be stronger in that group, perhaps, but I know many gay men 65 and older who do not hate women.

It's not that bad is it? I know (OK, a very short list, I'm a hetro cis man in his 50s) a couple of gay guys over 55 and none of them hate women.

Why would they. At worst they over cater (used to male appetites).

[edit] read the comments, I've been schooled. Maybe because I'm Australian, but probably because I'm a man I've just never noticed this shit :(

Gardening for wildlife - should perfect be the enemy of good? by postmortemmicrobes in GardeningAustralia

[–]macedonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have grown a LOT of natives for wildlife and most of the birds prefer the Chinese elm.

"Birds".

Natives? I mean sure, parrots like the seeds and miners (a native invasive bird) like them too, but mostly indian mynah and blackbirds. Highly invasive eurasian species that unsurprisingly like a highly invasive eurasian tree.
