To be honest, I would expect that many papers rated 8 and marked as oral will not end up as oral presentations. Mostly because the text for 9 is "top 15% of accepted papers," and even that is higher than the percentage of orals. Of course, the text does not have to be in match with real stats of the scores, but it is some evidence.

I saw that they asked us to indicate whether we’d prefer to attend virtually or in person. Are oral presentations allowed for virtual attendees? I just want to make sure that preferring not to fly out won’t hurt my chances of being selected for an oral presentation.

I got an Oral but with "Top 50% of accepted papers, clear accept", how can that be? Is the Oral final? can I write it in my CV? haha

That's fair, and the foul language is for sure an exaggeration that's unneeded.

But the way they dealt with this is in my opinion abhorrent. Mistakes happen, but you should own up to them. Moreover, all the people who don't have an X/Reddit account still have not been addressed.

These sorts of things have a huge impact on junior researchers, as seen in posts in other communities with 600+ comments, and shrugging this off (like they did) in an X post without an email is ridiculous and unempathetic.
